AF CONTEST ENTRY *1964 Impala Lowrider*

Ok starting progress on my Af contest entry. 1964 Lowrider Impala. Got a few things sorted out. First thisngs first. this is the kit:

its a re-pop of the original die hard 1964 chevy kit. I am going to be using a couple of aftermarket items.. such as:
- photoetch 64 impala set
- photoetch wheel knock offs
- hoppin hydros 4 chrome pumps
- hoppin hydros chain link steering wheel/licence plate cover
- hoppin hydros dayton rims
- hoppin hydros scripts and low rider plaques
- hoppin hydros interior custom consoles and visor
- hoppin hydros chrome assortment of amps, speakers and woofers
- hoppin hydros interior junk
- photoetch gas caps
- photoetch engine detail kit
- photoetch and resin multimedia small block chevy kit....

I have never done a low rider, so any help would be greatly appreciated!

Holy crap, I bet you you spent more on the accesories then the kit. Shit. With the Revell 64 there are a few weak points, like a few frame parts, I'm guessing you know how to make it pose a 3 wheel?

That engine looks fine man, no need for more chrome. Where'd those rocker covers come from?

rocker covers came from Model Car Garage Chevy small black detailing kit. along with resin parts.

That engine looks amazing. If this wasn't a modeling forum, I'd say that it was real. Great work so far, can't wait to see what the finished car will look like.

I have plans, but I have never done a lowrider before, so I hope I can pull it off.. the engine is looking more replica stock then lowriderish...but we will have to see.. will send the frame and suspension parts out today to ChromeTechUSA to get chromed... hopefully they will come back in time for me to complete this for the deadline.

Will start working on body next... to get things rolling and start applying some primer and base colors...

ALOT of lowriders have stock engines. nearly all cars in our club and all in SydneyStyle CC (www.sydneystylecc.com) have stock looking engines but detailed engine bays, you're just thinking of show car lowriders. Alot aren't all blinged out and not every car can class as a lowrider.

I just checked out SydneyStyle CC page. Some very fine cars for sure. Lack of pictures though and not one photo of an engine or engine bay. :( I'm sure when the Gallery opens it will be wicked cool.

Yeah SS just got their site up, they are strictly traditional lowriders. Yo ucan see that only one guy in the club has wheels over 15" and he cant get full membership because of it, as I said, very strict.

Some progress:

First the trunk box. not completed yet, but major pieces are done and flocked. I build up the floor to support two amps and two pumps. Batteries, pumps and speaker/amps are from hoppin hydros, the silver amp is from the stock kit.

That trunk looks very nice. I really like the green tint in the headlights. Did you paint them on the outside of the light, or on the inside?

Damn thats allot of F*ckin work there. Its coming out tight as hell and so far you have had the upper hand up in the comp. the car is going to be the SHIT just do what you have been doin and its going to be good.

looks good..but your pumps are plumbed wrong...not hatin' just helpin' lol;)

finishing some small items. pics to come later.. finsihed the flip down monitor in the sun visor, also opened up the glove box and made a little ps2 to fit in there.. hehe...

That PS2 is awesome. Out of proportion, but still amazing. I love how you put the little game in there and everything. The T.V. moniter looks really cool too. If the steering wheel is big enough, mabye put one in there for the driver of the car to watch too.

The body is ready for paint, opened up the roof a little and going to do a rag top half open look..

looking real good right here!!! lol. i really like the trunk set up. the ps2 nice too but it looks like u got the CD tray wrong. it should be coming out of the side not the bottom, unless its a custom ps2 mod:iceslolan:thinkerg:

Ok, took a little brake over the weekend, but now I am back, painitng main body, trunk/hood and some odd pieces.. first a front dash/ frame:

Both frame and dash are painted to match the body color schematic.

The main color is light brass color over a silver base, with a candy light pegan gold and straight gold.. there are also streaks of dark brown mettalic:

sealed everything with gold flake package.... sealer and now applying more gloss as we speak ;)

I have started working on the chasis. its painted body color scheme with a dark mettallic drown and gold flake frame. The exhaust is aluminum with chrome and metal tips.

Completed dash board. The steering wheel is a banjo syle photoetch and resin piece.

front radiator support is done, including the photoetch radiator cap, aluminum washer fluid cap, crystal washer fluid and detailed ac delco battery with claps, lines and bottle tops.
