The engine rotates but will not start. It is not firing from the ignition. We changed the ignition coil, distributor, and power module/ transitor. But it is still not firing. Also put in new wires from the distributor to the sparkplugs. The timing belt is ok, but not getting a spark from the coil.
Any idea where is the signal generator (ignitor) is located? On the engine? Perhaps that is the problem.
Any ideas would be appreciated.

Everything in the ignition system is contained in the distributor, coil and power module. If you have replaced every component and there is no spark, you must have a wiring problem. Verify that there is 12v on the b/w wire on the module while cranking as well on the ignition coil. It could be on the wire itself or on the ignition switch. Also verify that the distributor rotates. Hope this helps. :banghead:

I have the same problem as well. What was the final fix? Right now I'm dead by the side of the road.

It turned out to be the ECM (Brain) that is located under the glove box. I purchased a used one for about $300 by searching online at: http://car-part.com/
Then that one went out with the exact same problem 2 months later and I purchased another using the same source. 4 months OK now - Knock on wood.
Make sure you have done all the other check (sounds like you have)
I would pull it out, take off the cover and check it out. Mine was leaking around a capacitor and slightly burned right around the center of the board.

I have the same problem and have replaced the computer and most other parts suggested. I have been told that it is probably a crank position sensor on the flywheel but cannot find any info on that or where to look for it and how to test it. Any advise would be greatly appriciated.

The crank position sensor is located inside the distributor not on the flywheel. Have you performed testing on the distributor?
