Hi All,
I was given a 96 ford windstar by my father in-law and had the engine rebuilt. As it was leaking coolant though the timing cover and it had 196,000km on it. I though it would be a great van for my wife to drive and run the kids back and forth in. I was wrong :(
He was having problems before I put the new engine into it, where it would stall when taking off from a stop.
I though it might just be the fact the engine was cooked and that was all there was too it. After I got the van back the new engine had the same problem, it would stall when you take off. If you take off really slowly it works just fine.
Any Idea's?
The second problem I am having is when I come to a stop the ABS would come on for a few seconds. Today the ABS light came on and after I restarted the van it was out...

Could be a weak/failing fuel pump starving the engine. Do you get any CEL ? For the ABS issue, most likely it's a bad/dirty wheel speed sensor behind one of the brake rotors.

No I don't get a CEL light... Took it to the Dealer shop and they cleaned the EGR, Adjusted the timing, replaced the O2 Sensors. The next thing they are saying is the CAT. is restricting the flow and causing the engine to fail. We are upto about $1200.00 bucks...
No wonder I got it for free.. New Engine $3200, rad $330, now now...$1200.00 grr....
All I must say is .... love my 95 Toyota 4Runner.
