i have a 1997 sable with vss code reporting.I checked voltage to the connector it read .0609v. I also removed and tested the sensor and it checked ok. the manual says the connector voltage should read approx. 1.5v. the connector was also saturated with trans fluid. does any body have any experience with this system?

I just made an engine and transmission swap. The wires that go to the vehicle speed sensor(vss) were burnt. I repaired them and checked the voltage. Mine was only .506 volts. The book said 1.5 volts. If you don't have any wire hooked up the speedometer don't work and it will not get not of 1st gear. Mine does work with .5 volts. If your O-ring is bad it will leak there. Good luck!

i took my sable to ford garage. they replaced the speed sensor and said it was bad.the car still does not shift some times but the speedometer and tach still work. so what is causing the shifting problem. I changed fluid and filter.

Hi, I have a 98 sable and cannot locate the sensor. Where was yours located? Brad
