QUESTION: What does this warning light mean?

I have been having this warning light come on lately and I'm not exactly sure what it means. I bought the car this summer and it didn't come with an owner's manual. I've been trying to do some research on the internet, but I haven't come up with anything yet. Anyways, when it's really cold outside, for example this morning it was -21 with a -40 windchill, I get this little red warning light that comes on right below the tachometer, it looks like a little arrow pointing down towards a wavey line, which makes it looks like a low fluid level or low pressure warning light. The thing is that it doesn't come on right away, it shows up if I let the engine warm up alittle before heading out. Then as soon as I start driving it goes off again. I was worried because usually a red warning light means something bad, but since it goes out right away its been bothering me less and less each time. I still would like to know what it is though, incase I'm actually damaging anything by driving it with it on. If anyone has an owner's manual out there and is willing to help me out I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance! - Dan
p.s. If you have no idea what light I'm talking about I can take a picture and send it to you, so you know exactly what I'm talking about.

It sounds like you are describing the "Low Coolant" light. If the car detects a low coolant level in the reservoir, it will turn the light on after 2 minutes of engine run time.

Top the coolant off in the reservoir. It should be filled to the little ridge that you can see inside the reservoir when the cap is removed. You MUST use Dexcool coolant in your car. The coolant is orange in color, NOT green. You can buy it at any autoparts store. Just make sure the bottle says "GM Dexcool Approved".

If the problem re-occurs over time, you likely have a coolant leak and the car should be taken in for service.
