2001 - Sedan - Started getting a Clicking/Pulsating/Poping feeling and maybe sound in Steering Wheel. Hard to tell if it is in the steering or left front suspension. Started after 36000 so not under warranty. Also had the Low Coolant Level light come on and off intermittantly at around 32000, dealer replaced sensor and worked fine until about 51000 now back on solid and will not go off... Any of you guy and/or gals having the same problem ???
Other than that it's been a great car. Resale value sucks so guess I will have to keep it a while.

I had a crunching in steering wheel, was fixed at dealer by repacking steering column.

I had the same clicking/crunching in the steering at 28000 on my '01 LS. Dealer replaced intermediate steering shaft and re-packed. I also had the coolant problem at 32000 and that was covered by the defective throttle body seal causing leakage.

Almost forgot...The coolant problem was covered by a recall on the seals. So if your coolant problem relates to that, you still should be covered.

Would this problem carry over into '02, because mine is doing the same poppingclicking thing ('02 LS +or -40,000 started about 37,000)? I haven't noticed a coolant problem though.

The '02's could have the same steering shaft problem. They didn'y recall the 01's but told me they were replacing them no-charge on a case by case basis. If yours is bad, your dealer should take care of it.

i just got off the phone with the deaLer and he said it was the intermediate steering shaft. it needs to be lubricated every 30,000 mile so its a just a maintance problem. it does not hert the car but is annouying. its going to run me about 96.00$ since its my first time at this dealer and i did not buy my car there.

I think I had the steering shaft problem at about 28,000mi Lake Chevrolet in Lake Elsinore, Ca. has done all of my service, not only on the Impala, but our Astro as well. It's as good a service department as you'll find anywhere because they actually listen, and don't try to overwhelm you with technical BS. When I bring a Chevy in, I know it's going to get fixed and fixed right.
