Programming Keyless Remote on 1996 Sable

Does anyone have the programming instructions for a 1996 Sable for the keyless remote?

I purchased one on e-bay, but got no instructions on how to do it. The dealer wants a minimum of $40.00 to do it. Please help!!!!! Thanks!

Sorry, you have no choice but to go to the dealer. I ran into the same thing with my '96. The manual said the code is on the black box located in the truck behind the driver's side rear wheel, but when I looked, there is only a barcode, which only the dealer can decode. E-mail the person you bought the car from to see if they have it (assuming you didnt do this already). BTW, what did you pay for yours? I paid $5k for mine with 36k miles on it, in great condition. I just wanted to see if I got a good deal or not!

You want to program the keychain remote? I may be late but I just found this site. I did one for my 97 sable. Hook it to your keyring. Without starting the car turn the key on and off 3 or 4 times. The door locks will pop up or down (I forget). Try the remote by locking the doors or popping the trunk. If it works, try all the buttons to be sure they all work. Worked for me.

I've got the info at work if you can wait until Monday.

96 Sable Transmitter should be 4 button w/ Lock, Unlock, Trunk and Panic.

Here's how to program:

Turn ignition from OFF to RUN 5 times within 10 seconds, with the 5th time ending in RUN. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode.

Press any button on 1st remote transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming.

Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible).

Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

Keep in mind you need to reprogram all transmitters at the same time.

These instructions will work on Sable models, 93 - 95:

Turn ignition to RUN or ACC. Momentarily jump pins in programming connector located in LR quarter panel area. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

These instructions will work on Sable models 96 - 97:

Cycle ignition from OFF to RUN 5 times within 10 seconds, ending in RUN. All doors will lock then unlock to confirm programming mode. Press any button on 1st transmitter. Door locks will cycle to confirm programming. Press any button on 2nd transmitter (up to 4 transmitters total possible). Turn ignition to OFF. Locks will again cycle to indicate end of programming mode.

Does someone know how the programming connector of a mercury sable look like?
And which pins have to be jump?
