Replacing a Trans in 95 SL2

I have a 95 SL2 with 92K miles. Three weeks ago I had it checked out and there was metal in the filter and trans oil. I am not willing to put $1500-2000 into this thing. I can get a junkyard trans for $250-350. I am actually considering doing this myself.

Does anyone know where I can a book/information on how to do this???

I am fairly confident that I can do it but i would like a little help.

Does the transmission still work ok? If it ain't broke don't fix it. Some times you may find a small amout of metal shavings in the filter. Its just doing its job. Its better than letting them get back up into the works and really screw something up. When you have metal gears moving against each other and especially if the fluid and filter are long over due for a change, you can find some metal shavings occasionally. If its a few, I would not worry too much. If its alot, then obviously be more concerned. How much did you find?
