ever since i've had the car i thought it was the STD, because in the owners manual that came with the car there was on a Si, LX, EX, DX, and STD, but i was looking up what all the numbers mean in my VIN number and according to my VIN i have a CX, but i thought the CX came as a 5spd and mines is a 4spd?
did i rember something wrong ? or did i miss a memo?

What is the engine in the car? I know the stock engine in a STD (have one) is a D15B1....not sure what's in a CX but I'm sure someone else will pipe in...maybe put up your VIN so someone can decipher it for you?

a cx is a STD. in canada they were called a cx. we call them the STD here in the us cause there is no marking on the back for what model it is. so its the base or standard model.

Not to argue...but my STD didn't have a marking...but I have seen cx's around that are 90's...and I'm in Canada.

cx's are from 88 - 91, some have the badge, some dont, i prefere without cuz it looks cleaner IMO :) mines a CX btw but it has the d15b2 with a 5speed :D taken outta a CRX (the previous owner told me that the guy before him swapped it so its pretty kewl) so once the ZC goes in, this car will have had 3 different motors and 4 different trannys lol

yeah, you arent arguing, he said the same thing as you. in US, its an STD because theres no trim tag assigned to the car, so people call it a standard or STD. in canada theres a trim tag, called CX, and its the same car.
but my exhaust manifold looks loke the ones on all the non STD models, in the manual every car has the same manifold except the STD
you are correct sir. the 88 is the only STD to come with the HF style manifold, all the others had the catalyst under the car behind the engine.

So I guess what everyone is saying is...yes...you DO have an STD/CX...all 4th gen hatchbacks were built in Canada at the Allison Ontario Honda plant...one way to tell is there should be a sticker in the engine bay near the hood latch that says "Honda Manufacturing of Canada"...plus the VIN will tell you too. :)
