Grand Am Gt Vs. Impala Ls Poll

My sister got a Grand Am Gt a while back and i drove it once and seem pretty quick but I was wondering which car is faster, mine or hers. I have a 2003 Impala Ls and hers is a 2004 Grand Am Gt both stock. I have the power advantage by 30hp and torque(she doesn't have the ram air hood) but hers weighs 300lbs less and has a final drive ratio of 3.29 compared to my 3.05.
So who would win in a quarter mile race and 0-60mph times and all that good racing stuff.

I own a 2002 Impala LS and I have a friend with a '01 2-door Grand-Am GT. He has the Ram-Air hood. He and I haved raced, and I can get off the line faster (probably the torque advantage and traction control helping here) but after that we stay pretty close with me just a tad in front through the quarter, probably due to that first jump. The 3400 DOHC engine in his car probably winds up just a little faster than my 3800 pushrod six. This race is probably too close to call, but the poll sounds interesting. Good luck with it!

I think whoever could get off the line best would win.

It would be really close.

0-60 and quarter mile times vary for each, but both appear to be high 7's for 0-60 and some mid 15's @ 88-90 mph for the quarter mile.

Agree with above, it would depend on take off and roll out.

i think this race would all depend on the driver. better driver, better start would win. i gotta say that i'd be rooting for the impala all the way though cause i hav an 89 caprice:D

that is new - since they have the same engines, and the 3400 impala engine doesnt have dohc.

IMO the real comparison would be Grand Am to Malibu (cause it's the Impala's little brother like the grand am is to the grand prix) and Grand Prix to Impala. GTP versus SS...now there's a nice competition.

off the line impala will win, once you get up to higher speeds, the grand am will win, its lighter and has a higher gear ratio.
