Water Pump

Has anyone ever changed a water pump??? Was it easy???? I think my coolant is leaking from the pump since I get an occassional drip from the catalyst right below the pump.

Any ideas?? I have tried some coolant sealant which works temporily.

if it's leaking on the cat like mine it could be the timing case cover. What a bear. The first thing you do that will save you some time is to undo the bolt to the motor mount and get a block of wood and jack the engine up to pull the water pump.other wise forget about getting the pump out.I yad to pull enough crap out of the way to see were it was leaking from then with a mirror I was able to see it was leaking from the cover and not the pump

Ditto for my 95, 3.8. The leak is from the timing chain cover. And yes, you need to hoist up the motor about 2" to get the water pump changed out. Don't know about that chain cover though. Tightening up on the TC cover bolts closed to the inlet pipe slowed that drip for a while, but it's back again. I'm keeping an eye on my coolant, and looking forward to the day I get to change my timing gear.
