I have a 1993 SC2 and just replaced the alternator. It is located below the power steering pump and has to be changed from underneath. First and remove the negative battery cable then jack up the front end and support the car securely with jack stands. Remove the passenger side tire. You will also have to remove the plastic inner fender well. Once removed the alternator not too hard to replace. It is secured with two bolts. Mine took me 45min. hope this helps

The alternator can be finagled out of the engine bay through the bottom that way you dont have to take out the tire and inner finder. But it is a tight fit.
