Hi!, I need some one help. My Windstar has a problem with the door sensors, I believe, becuase the dash board is indicating that the some door is open and makes a horrible beep when the truck is on, but not when is up of 15 miles. How test can I make to see which sensor I must change or can I put the ordinary switch use on previous model or other cars?, please anwerme, that beep is driving me crazy and I do not want to disable the speaker. Thanks for your help.

I already fixed the problem. The sensor connector comes with electrical grease, but it seems it was too rusted, I cleaned it with Electrical Cleaner Spray and the problem disappear.

I have the same problem with my '98 Windstar. How do you access the wiring connectors to clean? Do you have to pull the door apart? Please help! Thanks.

hey try this, http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereo...dstarFDrSpk.htm Thsi should help you remove the door panel. Nothing to tedious and you won't break anything to getto to the door. the sensor is all the way by the latch. It's hard to see but you can find to wire and trace it back to the sensor. You might have to remove it to clean the contacts. Hope this helps.

an update for California residents about Auto Zone. They no longer do that due to high complaints from local mechanics as this is taking thier business away. Shoot with all the hihg prices in this state why take it to a shop when you can do it yourself. Just passing information along. hope this helps.

Look inside the latches. You will see the switches. Two on the rear door, one on each side. Just flush them with WD40 or something like it. Will take care of it.. I have had to do it a number of times.. Frank

We've got 2 complaints registered for the 98 for the same thing. What's unbelieveable that people have spent an average of $450 each getting this fixed. Check it out
98 Windstar door ajar light stays on (http://www.CarComplaints.com/Ford/Windstar/1998/accessories-interior/door_ajar_light_stays_on.shtml)
If you have the time, please add your comments.. the more data we have the more it helps other people.
By the way, that carstereo link a couple posts up is corrupted I think .. the correct link is here (http://www.carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalFordWindstarFDrSpk.htm)

Recently purchased '96 Windstar and had same problem but I think I've got mine fixed. I've seen other postings that suggested start engine and then open/close one door at a time. I aslo sprayed WD-40 on all doors.
It appears that the driver's door was the one that was the problem.

Well, my 98 windstar had the same problem. After reading posts here, I sprayed WD-40 and the problem disappeared. Thanks to all the guys.
Ford should issue a TSB for this. Imagine how many guys being ripped off by the dealers for this simple fix.
What made ford to try to re-invent the wheel. I have seen many very old cars and the door switch was never such a big mess.
For sure, dealers will love it.

Thanks for the help everyone...I almost paid $60 at a local garage to have my rear hatch sensors replaced. Instead I sprayed them with WD-40 and the problem disappeared! God, I love this site!
