Just wanted to share this with the forum... I was at an underground racing event and I came up against an STi. The owner of this car was talking thrash about my Stang, saying how his STi eats Mustangs for breakfast, and he has never lost to a Stang.. By this time the other rice racers had gathered around and started in on the trash talking as well... I just listened and then I said ok, let's race... He said you don't want to race me man, I would just embarress you in front of all my boys here... I said ok I guess you are just scared... He said ok let's do it man, give your money to this guy... So I handed over the money, he did the same and we approached the line I could here all the rice'es laughing and talking trash... The race started and off we went, I had him by about two car lengths and he hit the N20 then passed me, Then my blower started to wind up... The next thing I saw was the finish line and the next this guy in his tricked out STi saw was my tail lights... I went to pick up my money and you know what there was no cracking up, no trash talking just silence and disbelieve, I got no more action that night... Mustang wins again...

I dont really understand it when V8s use forced induction... isnt the whole point of there big badass engines that fact that thats all they need? Anybody with enough boost can run 11s, we just do it with 4 cylinders less. Plus, with a turbocharger there goes the torque problem as long as you keep into the upper rpms. Props anyways... 11s are pretty damn quick. If you want to be one of those import hating mustangs dont use a supercharger... it just doesnt seem right.:2cents: Just my opinion, and by the way, I like chevys, especially LS1s.

Sorry to double post, but if you are all about speed, then do whatever, throw on a 150 shot and turn up the boost, but not when your an "anti-ricer," it seems kind of ironic.

I got no action that night...
It's hard to get action from the ladies when you drive a mustang :lol2:
but even at that I wouldn't go around bragging that you can't get any
Anyways if the race is real it sounds like an excellent race and a good kill, but personally it sounds like your working on the script for a movie called "Domestic Rice"

This race happens about once a month at an old airport in the Miami Fl area. As for the ATI not making superchargers, I don't know where you got that from, because they are one of the leaders in the centrifugal Super Chargers. The model I have is the P-1SC with 9psi of boost and a intercooler, This supercharger works in the 1500 -6500 range and you can actually hear it spin up in the car's cabin when you hit 4500 rpms. I am going to up the bost to 14 psi so I can get into the 10's and still drive it to work and the track.
ATI web site www.procharger.com
Check it out for your self.
As for fast and furious, that movie was a joke and anyone who races knows that it is all hollywood.
The 4cyl rice'es are pretty incredible little cars and anyone who can get these into the 12's or 11's get my respect... I know how hard it is to get an 8 cyl in the 12's and 11's...
I was just shareing a race experience with this forum, as I like to read other's stories. I am sure there is a ricey out there that can smoke me. Just as if anyone one believes that thier ride is the fastest are either a nut case or completely detached from reality. There will always be a faster car... My car included, I can think of atleast half a dozen cars that are running 10's and even 9's that are driven on a daily basis...
Take Care, Great forum
Keep um running fast and don't miss your gear, Peace!!!

No, no, no...you got me all wrong.
I didn't say they don't make S/Cs, just that they I thought they didn't make centrifugal S/Cs, which would explain why your S/C would need to "wind up".
All the ATI systems I've seen personally were screw-types, and the P1SC you said you have, which though it is a centrifugal, doesn't need to "wind up" like say, a Vortech one does.
But I can see where you're coming from, as the gear-driven ATIs are still reliant on engine RPMs to build full-boost.
Maybe you should've said it was your motor that "wound up" to give yo full boost;).

I always find people who bicker about who won a race simply stupid. Either one of those cars could be modified to beat the other one hands-down. Stop being so proud that your relatively heavily modified Mustang beat a mostly stock STi, and he should stop talking shit on your car (though he won't, I know). It's just stupid. It's not a race over who can drive better, over who has more tuning skills or over who has made a better decision on their car. Racing in a straight line is merely a race to see who spent more money on their car.
Hooray. You beat him because you spent more money. If he'd spent more money than you, he would've beat you too.
You want a cookie or a parade?
this was not supposed to be offensive directly towards you, but towards shit like this in general

Hehe, I would love to know what kind of supercharger you have on your car, I'm not talking about brand either. I’m talking about type. It is not far fetched for your heavily modified Mustang to beat an STi with N2O as being the only mod, and we don't know what shot he was using anyhow. I will tell you that his car would destroy yours on the track.

Are you talking about a straight line quarter mile or a race around a track... My car suspension has been fully worked by Steeda and it will pull about 1g on the track, Not sure what my top speed is but I have had it above 140 with plenty of pedal left...
The supercharger is the Centrifical type with 9si of boost and an intercooler. I am about to change it to 14 psi so I can get into the 10's...

how long do you think your bottom end is going to hold up at 14lbs. of boost?
not very... have fun with that...
i'm not sure where you get off calling an sti a ricer... but that's your deal...
just for fun, take a look at the latest popular hot rodding (i think that's the one that did it). they compared a stock sti and a stock svt cobra. the sti was quicker by a tiny amount, and they picked the sti over the cobra.
a hot rod mag chose a jdm "rice rocket" for the better car... hmm...

Man whats with all the Mustang haters on here? And before you guys say your not just read your posts. I say good kill and nice job shuting that kid up. And I have to disagree with you polygon on the track thing. The way he is now maybe but if he tunes his car for handling then I think he could take the STI IMO. RWD > AWD every where (cept snow/mud). Mustangs can be made to handle to very well as im sure you know. So track it would be close again.
Although 1Quick91 I have to ask the same thing as polygon whats with the long Supercharger lag? I say this because the way you make it sound is like you take him from the start, he come back with N2O and passes you, THEN your charger kicks in? sounds like really long lag time.
fly I dont think he was calling the STI a Ricer just the driver. Come on though you buy a STI and the first thing you do is N2O. :disappoin

As to my Supercharger, I think it has a lot to do with my cam and my torque converter. I am very quick off the line but when my car reaches about 3500-4500 rpm it really moves out and you can hear the supercharger winding up in the cabin...
I also think this guy hit the juice to soon or was almost empty, because after he passed me his car seemed to lose power and fall behind...

what rpm is your tq convertor designed for? wouldn't you want one that's set to lock at the rpm your s/c is spooled up at?

The reason you don't see AWD beating RWD in most racing series is that AWD had been outlawed because it was deemed to be too big of an advantage. Here's a list of recent series that AWD cars have beaten RWD cars (and in many cases been subsequently banned from):
Speed World Challenge GT
British Touring Car Champoinship
FIA WRC (AWD is now the hot setup on the tarmac rallies)
SCCA Showroom Stock club racing
SCCA Trans-Am
SCCA GTO
Grand-Am Cup
DTM
And AWD is currenlty not allowed in
ALMS
Rolex Grand-AM
Trans-Am
BTCC
ETCC
DTM
FIA GT
I'm sure there are others out there that I have omitted.

The Converter is a Custom Made B&M Holeshot 3600 by Art Carr and works between 3500 and 3900 rpms... Also the Art Car Street Strip Transmission has been geared to compliment my 3:73 rear gears. The ATI P-1SC at 9 psi with an intercooler does not reach it's max boost until about 4500 rpm's and my stang's horsepower curve is about 5600 rpm, That means I have the max horsepower at 5600 rpm's then it starts to drop slightly. by the way my horsepower at 5600 RPM's is 487.6 with 441 foot pounds of torque acording to the dyno... When I add the 14 psi of boost I will be pushing close to 560 hp and yes my Coast High Performance 347 was built to withstand upwards of 700 hp on the short block.

only 3.73's though?
it'd be easier to shove 4.10's in that thing and you could hit 10's that way... but that's a nice setup... where are you redlining at, close to 6, or higher? most of the 5.0's that i've seen redline around 67/6800...
Come on though you buy a STI and the first thing you do is N2O.
quick mod. easy to do. easy power. why is that ricey again?

i'm still intrigued, b/c the gearing should really take care of the issue with the supercharger lag...
maybe a taller rear gear will fix that...
i'm willing to bet you'd be deep 10's with just the 4.10's and what you've got though...
nice setup
only 3.73's though?
it'd be easier to shove 4.10's in that thing and you could hit 10's that way... but that's a nice setup... where are you redlining at, close to 6, or higher? most of the 5.0's that i've seen redline around 67/6800...
Come on though you buy a STI and the first thing you do is N2O.

Actually I did have 4:10's at one time and I could not control tire spin so my times were slower and I also tried a set of slicks and that solved the tire spin problem some what but I busted the UV joints, to much torque... So I had to switch back to 3:73's...

had to switch?
i've got a friend with an 87 lx... pushing 330 or so to the wheels, 5 speed, 4.10's. high 11's without nitrous. the only thing he broke was the trans which turned itself into marbles twice...
so i don't think the gears are what did it...
he runs slicks, of course...
so it wouldn't be hard to run the 4.10's, you just have to build for it

N20 is not a good first mod because, one you could blow your engine if its not built for the extra boost it gives. Two it’s a mod that you have to keep on refilling when he could be spending that money upgrading engine components. N20 is not a bad mod but it should be a near last mod. Kind of like the icing on a cake. It adds a nice touch but with out the cake (strong engine) it’s just icing. Now if that's all the STI guy wanted, just a little kick like a 50 shot that's fine. However if he is going to go around bragging about his car and bad mouthing others then he should spend his money really moding his car. Not just adding NAAAZZZ! But hey what do I know I dont even have a car :icon16:
By the way just so I dont sound like im bad mouthing STI's. I do really like them and would love to own one.

Actually, I have a lot of respect for the guy who can take a ricey or import and turn it into an 11 second car, because I know how hard it was to get my stang to the 11 second range, what I don't respect is a ricey or import racer that have seen Fast and the Furious 1 to many times and think that there 4 cyl or 6 cyl can not possibly be beat by a Mustang, Camaro, or other domestic muscle cars with 8 cylinders.
I have actually been beat by a guy at Moroso racing a souped up sc2000 with juice. This guy knew how to tune and his car was really fast he tripped the lights at 11.04 if memory serves me right and I came in at 11.33. Before or After the race there was no trash talking or saying how this car was better than that car. In fact we went to a sports pub after the race and chatted about cars and tuning.
So you really need to chill and think before you type...

I'm not saying his is BS or telling truth but about the ATI thing. All ATI makes are centrifugal S/C.
I checked it out and you're right.
I saw a couple of 'Stangs at one of our weekend car-show here in Arizona with the screw-type S/Cs with the owners talking ATI this, and ATI that.
...but come to think of it, I must've mixed up companies, as this car uses a screw-type, but it's the "stock" Ford one ;):

No read his original post and the one in the mustang forum. He actually called it NOS,lol, just playing, its cool. He referred to all imports as rice and came on here calling imports rice once again, this WAS in the HONDA/ACURA section, I guess it was moved. I give him props for a quick car, but see no reason for hating. Especially considering most ricers are idiots and probably only use the internet to order decals for brands they cant even pronounce. "ah eee emm? uh... aayyeemm?" Its AEM. Anyways, chill on the word rice/ricey, I drove my buddies 97 gt for 3 days and gave him my GSR, theyre pretty even, and the RX7 and Supra from the fast and furious were pretty quick Id think, but I dont go up to a Z28 and pop open a laptop trying to scare him into thinking I have two 75 shots waiting for him.

They're not coming out with an SVT focus stock supercharged like its big brother anytime soon are they? 170hp with a 15.8 (from what I hear) 1/4 mile isnt bad. Theyre catching up.

As far as I know those to companies are not affiliated.

My block was an original FRPP 302 Block that was stroked to 347... The block is a 2 bolt main with brass freeze plugs and is rated up to 700 HP.
CHP also offers 4 bolt main blocks but those are extremely expensive.
CHP is a great surce for Ford Blocks, Short Blocks, Long Blocks, and Moduler Blocks.

I thought I would point this out... that when the STi finally gets ECPU cracked that if people are serious about this then you better watch out... I think that with the e management that STi should make it in to low 11 and high 10s... that’s with some extensive moding... btw putting nos on a car that is NOT correctly tuned is retarded. That cars computer probably looked at all the extra oxygen and was like WTF and he is probably lucky he didn’t do any major damage and he is probably killing the life of that engine seriously.

putting nitrous on a correctly tuned car is retarded.
that's about the most off the wall thing i've ever heard.
if your car is correctly tuned, that would mean that you've tuned it to run the nitrous as well, no?
there's rumors that ford is coming out with a step up from the svt focus as well... but that's another thread completely.
