why is adding N2O to a tuned car retarted?
It's no worse than adding a turbo or anything else.
WTF does "correctly tuned" mean anyway.

STFU.
just because I don't drift my JDM "sipercar" all the time doesn't mean I am stupid.

my point exactly...
i guess he's talking about using something like a dry setup on a car that's not setup to run nitrous.
but correctly tuned, to me, would mean... tuned so that it doesn't blow up.

yeah, running a multistage, or dry N20 system on a street car is usually a bit much.
a 75 shot is about all I'd use.

I don't think there is anything wrong with running a dry system on the street. It's safer, easier and cheaper then a wet system. I think a wet system on the street would be a bit much compaired to a dry system, plus a lot can go wrong with a wet system if it's not installed and tuned with the correct know how.

Ok what I meant by correctly tuned was!!! That it has been tuned to take the nos. As in you have a separate map for running your car with out nos and one that is for running it with nos. There are management systems that will allow you to have up to 5 different maps saved at that same time and allows you to pick which one you want o you by pressing a button or turning a dial to the map you want.

Running N20 on a stock car is just not a great idea. Who every said its just as bad as running a turbo does not know what they are talking about. How many people do you know that just slap on a turbo? Most turbos come with a KIT! of other parts you need. Also the smart people make sure their engine eternals can handle the boost. The same precautions need to be taken with N20. A 75hp boost is like a turbo on low boost. So its nothing to laugh at. Now on a car like a supra that can handle up to 700whp I hear, a 75hp shot might not be a big deal but still not all cars are built like that. And like some one brought up earlier with a car like the STI it has a very sophisticated Computer system that is set up to keep the STI at its 300hp. So that should also be remaped to handle the N20.

Best Quarter mile time 11.17@118mph
Nice setup you got there. I doubt that most STi's will even give you a decent race. In any event nice kill.

so, you said that you shouldn't put nitrous on a car that's correctly tuned for nitrous? what?
you said this:
btw putting nos on a correctly tuned car is retarded.
i assume you mean that putting nitrous on a car that's not tuned for it is a bad idea.
if someone put nitrous on a car, i'm assuming that they followed the instructions, and made the necessary (and minor) changes to the car, like adjusting timing, and maybe the plugs, if necessary.
there's nothing wrong with putting nitrous on a stock car. nothing. you just have to have it setup right. most of the kits that are on the market are practically fool proof (if you follow the instructions and do what they say).
so what's the issue again?

Can some one who has a N20 kit post what you had to do and what the instructions said to do and the warnings it gave.

you could maybe go to sites like www.zex.com, where they have recommended timing adjustments and what not, or check the faq's on most companies sites.
there are generally parameters they give for what timing, plugs, etc. you should run with what shot on your car.

On my Z28 I have a Edelbrock dry shot nitrous oxide system. I have it tuned to a 100 shot, and don't have any problems with it yet. I also have the car tuned w/ a mass airflow translator to run a little rich at wide open throttle. I think one of the main problems people have w/ nitrous systems is due to running too lean. There are problems associated w/ it that I have heard of other then engine longevity. I've heard that since it's power isn't exactly linear, like a turbo, that it puts alot of strain on the drivetrain components (Driveshaft, tranny, etc...).
