i could resort to verse,
but i won't
because soon i'll be hearing
"no, please dont."

so, instead, i'll just cut
things terse
and refrain to post
anymore verse

did u use a magnafying glass for the interior, cuz that looks hard to do. I like it.

Hi Jeep_Rubicon, nope, I didn't use a magnifying glass, but I have seen these goggles wher you can flip down a pair of magnifying glasses. Artist use those. I forget the name. The car is rather large so it allows for greater detail.

Working on the headlights and tutorial now. I will have some posts soon.
Thx again for all the interest.

I understand what you mean Castback. Many times one just has to go and draw. I too have a hard time explaining how to draw w/o any tools. I mean it takes a lot of practice to draw acurately w/o grids and such. I like the grid because it make things easier as far as teaching.

Drawing is mostly about learning how to see. That is hard to teach, I just always recommend a book like Dr. Betty Edwards' "New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain."

There is only so much you can do on a forum. I recommend books because they are the next best thing to actually be tought in person by someone. Well, videos may be even better than books.

Anyway I am rambling.

Al's recommendations are awesome.

Has anyone actually went and checked out a book Al has suggested?
I have, some books have been really helpful.
Although I'm still unable to find a copy of The popular "How to draw cars like a Pro' by Thom Taylor. Bleck! bloody perth and it's non artistic community!

Anyway, I'm just talking crap now.

castback, how much did you get your copy of it for? Over here it is $35.75. Which is about $25.00 in American dollars.
Fair price? Too expensive? cheap?

BarnesandNobles has a hard cover version for 14$ I think.
Do they ship to OZ? :)

Here are the headlights.

If anyone gets tired of seeing this thread let me know I will close it and keep it closed untill I finish this darn car and not post anymore progress images.

Took photos for the head light tutorial, if anyone cares.

It is really not that hard the main secrete weapons are the tuff stuff eraser (can be bought at art stores and office supply stores).

I use my X-acto knife to cut it to a flat top w/ very sharp edges.

Blu-tack (we have this stuff like this in the U.S. but Blu-tack is tackier and used by professional graphite artists like Armin, Mike Sibley, and Matti, those guys hang out at artpapa.com)
http://www.sibleyfineart.com (look to the right scroll down some)

I also use stumps to blend.

If anyone is still interested I can assemble my tutorial for the headlights.

The basic thing is to plan where your highlights will go and try and sketch everything around them. I then come back in w/ those erasers to bring the highlights out. I then will sketch and blend some more. Finally I will do the highlights again. If you mess up there are these metal stencil plates (kind of small) that you place on your drawing and then dab w/ your blu-tack or knead eraser. The stincil will keep you from eraser parts you don't want to erase.

I cannot stress it enough to constantly look at your ref. study it, know it. Talk to your self when drawing say, "This line goes here and then here and yadda yadda yadda." Look at the spacing between the lines you have drawn and the current line you are drawing, the negative spacing.

***I posted links to dickblick but that doesn't mean I buy stuff from them. I get my stuff from my local artstore***

Amazing. Amazing. Amazing.

I would love to see a tutorial on the headlights. I always struggle with realistic looking headlights.

Wut up Fellas,

Thx again for checking it out.

Well, I noticed that the far projector light may need to be smaller, but oh well I am not spending any more time on the lights.

Like Bonz said you can go crazy just trying to copy your ref. w/ every detail. Fun as this can be, I could never make this look like a photo.

Some peops are just better at it, (Matti, Armin).

Anyway.

I will do the tutorial.

Thx again

Thx Bonz, your alright no matter what they say....hee hee :)

Ok folks I am locking this.

I am putting together the head light tutorial, and I may just go ahead and do a rim tutorial w/o using the Sil's rims. I just want to get those done because I said I would like 5 months ago. Then I won't be preasured to finish this car. I will have the tuts all done and I can leave this drawing for awhile again.

I really need to get my neighbors mudstand done. My first painting (car) wish me luck...he ehee

Thx

Alfred
