you guys trully believe the U.S was there for saddam to begin with? one word: OIL. They will rebuild the iraqi government but in return they will take a shit load of oil.

I say we treat Saddam as he would treat one of his victims, but torchered much more slowly and painfully. Now I am not the type of person that would usually say to do that to anyone, but what Saddam has done is just wrong. If he thinks its perfectly alright to do what he did to anyone, he should be shown how it feels to be on the other end.

Either that, or he should be tied to a post, or a wall, and a member of every family he has hurt can take a punch at him, any where they want. Depending on the way their family was destroyed/ family members killed, they should be given a metal pole to take the shot.

And about his dignity, did he give all the people he torchered any dignity?

My Mum recons we should give him a sex change, then put him back into his country. I am sure he will enjoy the way he is treated as a woman in his country...

As for the sentence, i don't think capital punishment is the answer, although, i think he should be treated to America's version of hell...Being

I've heard this argument quite a bit, and I'm not really sure about it. I don't think that today, with the world opinion of the US, other countries would let us "have our way". Sure, they'll let us fight this war, but when it comes to reimbursing ourselves for the cost, they're gonna say "you started it, you pay for it" and how the money is needed to rebuild Iraq as a country and as a political power.

If you wanted to say however that the US invaded Iraq just to get rid of a dictator who was anti-American and to replace him with a US-friendly version so as to add another Middle Eastern ally (since it's pretty much the US and Israel right now)...well, I think that argument is more valid than the oil one. Anybody disagree?

Ummm, dude. That it is WAY too much power. From there he could easily marry the Dairy Queen, become the Burger King, go live in his big White Castle....and then where would we be?

A dictator is any leader of a group of people who has absolute control; while he may not operate day to day trivial tasks, he can demand how they are done, and step in at any time if he wishes.
Also, no elections (usually).

Nope, thats exactly why we're there. I'll add a bit to that by saying that maybe the government is sick of bribing other Arab countries into letting us base troops on their land... now we don't need their permission to have a sizeable force of troops gather right next door, do we?

That's a nice insight there, JC! I wouldn't be surprised if we kept a massive base there just as a "peace-keeping" force.

We may not have found WMD, but we'll sure as hell put some there.
