I don't think they cost so much... just compare it to the Viper :)
Z06 is a great car at a great price.

al this talk about engines, my only question is, are any of this engines able to go all the way to 1,300+ horse power? i know that the rb26DETT is

--200SX

Of course! The RB26DETTs we see hit the heavenly quadruple digit horsepower range only because there are accoutered with drag racing attire, as in the Veilside street-drag R34 and various others.

Here is the simplest and most common equation utilized for this type of japanese power:

(engine with cylinders > 4) + (the most massive turbo x 2) + (all the necessary reinforcments & gear to withstand, supply, and manage the whole contraption) = 1xxx hp easy

Therefore, any of the previously mentioned powerplants can hit this mark. They just need focus around the ideology of japanese cars: turbochargers. However, drag cars lose all driveability when it comes to practical purposes. One cannot use the unreal turbine lag in the former end, or exponentially increasing powerband on the latter end of the tachometer. Hence, the real question becomes, are any of these engines able to deliver more power, while remaining smoother, than their predecessors?

I'm not certain about this situation, but when it comes to top speed, weight and stability play huge factors.

Top Secret's newer land speed Supra is powered by the 3S-GTE. They figured that the longer and heavier 2JZ-GTE inline-6 must have been the natural flaw for the Supra's unperfected 50/50 weight distribution. Their solution was to use a well built 4-cylinder and mount it right against the firewall. The same drawback could go for the R33's RB26DETT inline-6. The Z32's V6 may have just been lighter and allowed greater balance for the speed trials.
