cute...hah. Slower than a cavalier and they have less reliability. AND share the same chasis as the probe...

where do you get your statistics from? According to car-stats.com a 93 base probe's 1/4 mile time is 16.4, the gt model does it in 15.6.

The base cavalier in 1995 does it in 18 seconds and the Z24 in 1993 does it in 17.2.

You have to compair year for year otherwise its not very accurate as technology changes.

I dont think the cavalier is more reliable than the mx-6 and the mx-6 handles a HELL of a lot better than a cavalier. Which is what matters most to me.

ok, saying that it looks like the neon is like sayin the s13 looks like the probe. or the fc looks like a porsche 944.

small very subtle similarities but not close at all the same time ya know?

I love how the GTR looks :)

and Dayna you don't have to believe me, but the mx-6 does still suck. Just like the probe, they have poor reliability and poor quality. I know one person with a probe gt and the other with a base model mx6. The probe is alright, even though it does break some. The MX6 has had numerous problems from the electrical system not even working, pressure crack on the windshield from no boy-racer driving, etc.

The car sucks...that's my opinion...you like it...that's yours. The fact is, it's front wheel drive and supposedly sporty. That, to me, makes it a rice car; even stock.

You were saying that a CAVALIER is better than a probe. All I did was prove you wrong. Probes make awesome auto-x cars. Something you probably have no experience in. I know we each have our own opinions, but just because something is "sporty" and front wheel drive doesnt make it a "rice car". Thats just plain ignorance.

he does have a point though, Probes are shit boxes, and mx6's are toilets, they are even worse imho. I never really regarded old mazda's as having good build quality, even the interior on f3ds's falls apart real bad. I know some guy with one and its tore to shit, seats are all f'd up, dash is messed up, center console is messed up, outside looks cool and they put up good numbers, but they are built shitty. I do like the interiors on the F3cs though.

mx6 is probably the shittiest sport compact car you can buy, new cavaliers have better build quality even, not saying they handle better, but they are put together better. I see all sorts of cars all the time, take em on test drives, sit in em and use the scanners on them, I can tell pretty easily when a car is a cheap POS, and the mx6 is one of them. The probe isn't far behind, who cares if it handles good. I wouldn't drive a yugo if it handled good. End of the day its still a cheap POS and its still a yugo. Fords are some of the worst cars in reliability. They are built cheap, the materials are cheap, and they also accept the highest percentage of parts defects into their factory then any auto maker. From the factory the parts they use have a higher chance of failling and not working properly......

Fords keep food on my families plate.

Owning a really shitty car is no trade off for having something with decent performance. There are plenty of other cars built better that have good performance as well you could buy.

I may be ignorant...but I look at more things than just performance. I'm also big about reliability and general feel of the car. FWDs have a shitter feel than a RWD when cornering and having fun.

I know my car can take the 4 cylinder version...and since I haven't raced a 6...I can't vouch...and I'm sure I'd lose to a driver of equal skill level...luckily nearly all the mx6s and probes I see are the little 4...and my first post was about the 4 cylinder model...sorry if I didn't make that more clear, but I figured it was obvious...

most of the time that is true, but SCC ran a mazdaspeed protege through the slalom faster than their 350z. they loved the protege.

I have had a sentra, maxima and currently a 240sx. I would say that sentra is the best newbie car because it is reliable as hell and can take a beating. It is also cheap to maintain. That's my two cents.
