here is a pic of the proposed paint
http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php?file=500/69232scooby_photo.jpg
and here it is with a coat of Ts30. gonna rub it down again and start the masking off for the tribal flames.
gonna be fun i think, lol.

the hoops that the baby is sitting on are Fujimi Andrew Goltdish

please, please, tell me your gona do something performance wise to back up that paint! Looks like it'll be sweet.

chrismcgee
10-27-2003, 01:54 PM
probably just a nice hks style exhaust i think. nothing too over the top, plus the kit is a lot like the 350z, very limited as most parts are molded in. and has metal rods for axels

86_SR5
10-27-2003, 02:06 PM
How about a nice front lip with a front mount intercooler and that exhaust would set it off.

Looks like it'll be a difficult masking, but i think you can handle it. Good luck.

not if he uses 3/16th's masking tape, draws the design, cuts and removes what he doesnt need.

just leave it silver, looks better that way...and no wing!

86_SR5
10-27-2003, 03:48 PM
chris, how about doing the a trible flame on the top of the wing in blue but leave the rest silver?

Chris,
Nice idea for a project Scobby, but what about those mold line in the front bumper uner the headlight, you really need to sand them out first...Slow down dude :evillol:

Yeah keep this one on the DL:uhoh:.

Cool idea, can't wait to see the paint. I was waiting for someone to do an impreza that has big chrome wheels and cool paint rather that performance with a sidedish of performance!:bigthumb:

What's wrong with performance oozing out of every crevice of the car? Usually Chrismcgee's cars are nice, but they don't really pique my interest because they're more show than are my taste, but for some reason I really like this one. Is it the paint? Is it the rims? Both? Not really sure, but man you're good at paintjobs so this car is gonna be superfine. Can't wait to see it!

10-27-2003, 11:43 PM
nice work Chris. Cool project! are you finishing the kit for your 1:1 customer?

I think the most difficult part is the blue flame pattern and the bodykit.

Also, everytime you have new projects, someone will be interested with the rims you used.

It is kind of cool to see many ppl interested in the rims I sent to you. My Fabulous profound was all sold out because of this reason. :D :grinno: :iceslolan

sweet can i get some sponsorship then joe???? lol.
Hiro boy i just needed to get a lick of paint on it so i can pretend its always been in the cuboard, lol. gonna be rubbing the whole body down with 1200 grit. then get a nice smooth paint job on there.

for the masking i have taken a leaf out of the vinyl signs buisiness, cut the pattern out on the flat, then add another piece of tape to the back to allow positioning. then remove the tape, simple realy. i think??????

Not gonna go with a front mounted intercooler this time but this is far from my last impreza!

the wind that i have used is the standard wrx sti spoiler, i quite like it as its very sharp and not too big,

I may be late, but take care with TS-30... this paint is very fragile and your tombs will show very easily..

but good project

chrismcgee
10-30-2003, 07:40 AM
the drivers seat is gonna be on the right hand side where it always shoulf be! lol.
gonna try and spray today as the weather isnt too bad.

went to halfords yesterday and the guy there let me loose to mix up my own paint! how much fun is that, like being a kit again. made myself a gold pearl top coat. so i can spray a light amount over all sorts of different colours, used 50ml of there most expensive superfine gold pearl!!! and a load of thinner lol. they normaly use tiny amounts of it. he also agreed to do me anything i want for less than the normal price! top bloke. gonna get loads of candies for my babies, hmmmmmm cansy red enzo maybe?

86_SR5
10-30-2003, 10:47 AM
chris, this may be off topic, but can you give me the measurments for that gold top coat, I think it would look sweet on my gold/red color changing enzo.

chrismcgee
10-30-2003, 02:10 PM
60% gold to 40% clear carrier fluid. that way it is nice n thin and can be misted over

86_SR5
10-30-2003, 04:05 PM
sweeeet. gonna be awesome on the only color changing enzo here, I trashed the yellow idea, this way i get em both, yellow and red, with gold top coat.

chrismcgee
10-31-2003, 06:24 AM
sorry to inform ya dude but i am having a rage flip paint made up at the mo which is like my slammed skyline, ultra flippy and very cool in gold to red. just waiting for it to turn up.

chrismcgee
10-31-2003, 06:34 AM
here is the car at its new lowered height, not too much. just enough in my opinion

86_SR5
10-31-2003, 04:06 PM
That's sweet and low. Chris, I think if it was a blue/violet to red paint with that gold you mixed in the tribal style on top of that silver, it'd be awesome.

chrismcgee
11-05-2003, 07:36 AM
gonna be uploading some pics after i get back from the gym (4hrs time), interior is done and looking sweeter than i could imagine. its in matt black and desert sand. will have to wait to see!
body has been rubbed down awaiting final coat of silver finaly.
all smooth, then im going to start tomorrow on making the masks for the tribal flames. should be interesting!

chrismcgee
11-05-2003, 07:39 AM
also i changed the wheels to the nissan 350z wheels. they seem to look much better tucked up in the arches than the goltdish wheels.

Looks cool dude. I like the "real" stereo feel. Nice blue dude.

Stick with the 6 storkes rims and make it wide-deep look.

11-07-2003, 10:16 AM
Looks awesome so far!! The Z rims give a more performance-oriented feel to it and the go well with the silver. The interior is top-notch!! :sunglasse :sunglasse You're gonna make me start on mine soon! :p

chrismcgee
11-09-2003, 08:55 AM
ok so i forgot to take one thing into account, ts50 is a very thick paint.

when i peeled off the mask it too a lot of detail with it :banghead:

going to attempt to hand paint them back in, if not strip it again and airbrush the tribal and not spray can it

here it is at the moment. will probably get pissed off with it in a day or two and re spray it all. until then i will do my best to rectify it.

dont worry it will all look smooth soon. plus its gonna get about 10 coats of clear coat!

Vric
11-09-2003, 10:24 AM
well the patern look really great, but as ia say before, the ts30 is a very hard pait to work with if you dont put clear coat before. and if you do so, the color change a lot

still, i'm sure you will work around this and make a stuning work

chrismcgee
11-09-2003, 10:49 AM
i have left the first lot of touch up paint to dry and will give it more coats tonight. then loads of clear coat.

can the whole group keep their fingers crossed that i will pull this off!
