well i just had the exact same problem and it was my stereo the dimmer wire was grounding out so i suggest that you check that or do u even have a stereo in your car well either way it is a red and black wire that was shorting out on my car and blowing the #8 fuse just fixed it a couple of days ago well hope this solves your problem tell us if it fixes it

yea i took my radio and everything else out in the car the only thing ihave left is my guages that are just hanging there for the moment until i get the time to make a metal dash. i looked at all of the wires and i didnt see any that were disconnected or cut so i dunno. ill try what you said.

when i bought my car my brake lights didnt work and when i put a fuse in it would blow as soon as i tapped the brakes,,,turns out that the brake lights and the horn share the same fuse and the horn was disconnected and touching the frame of the car,,,,maybe you should check your horn, its located under the driver side fender and bumper ,but im not sure about the instrument panel light,,mine worked when my brakes didnt

I'm getting the same thing. However, I think that my problem is the dimmer box in the dash. That is what I am going to try first. I have to figure this out too, so if you come up with anything, I would like to know too! Also, daddys, the brake lights are separate from the dash/marker lights, so that fuse would have nothing to do with it...

hey the other day i was checked all of the wires with an ohm meter "i think thats what its called" my pops told me to try to use it to see if the wires had a break in them somwhere. well i pulled the intire guage/radio harness out to check all of the wires and the all were fine and when i plugged it back in i put a new fuse back in and everything worked fine, except my guage lights still dont work but my tail lights work fine now. im just going to leave it cuz everytime i get around to tryin to find out whats wrong i end up f-in something else up so the guage lights dont bother me plus im ordering all new autometer guages in about a month to get ride of my guage cluster so i can make a metal dash.

I had a loose connection in my dash wiring plug that went into my gauge cluster...that caused my lights to work intermitently. After I cleaned up the connections (spray a little of that TV connector spray on it too) that seemed to help.

Glad you got your lights to work....it was probably just a short somewhere...

I had the same problem with my supra, i put a new head unit in and had sum xtra wires so i put em off to the side, and my power mirrors n other shit stopped working, if you dont have a stereo in, then jus get sum electrical tape n tape the ends ... well thats my :2cents:
