I don't know what causes that but I have a '99 where every once in a great while the o/d off light will come on and I have to hit the button to turn o/d back on again then I'm good for a while.

Check your owner's manual, my 2000 manual states that this indicates a transmission malfunction that needs to be looked at. Sorry, no more info than that but it sounds like something that might be small now that should be checked out before it becomes a big tranny problem.

My abs light would come on and then sometimes stay off. when i took it in for checkup, they charged me $50 to "diagnose" the abs and then told me the light was on because the fluid level in the brake reservoir was low. got ripped off due to the abs diagnoses since most ford mechanics should've known that without a diagnose check. check your reservoir brake fluid level.

I have the speedometer problem too. The cable from the sppedometer passes though the firewall near the brake pedal. Part of my problem was caused by catching my foot on the cable and bending it out of alignment. Pushing it back into place fixed it.
