Has anyone here ever made their own motor mounts for a b series swap, i was thinking about trying it out before shelling out all that money for mounts...

thanks

just on a personal note i think your nuts unless your a welder, iron sculptor, know your way around polimer compounds, and have acess to and knowledge of how to use precision 3d measurement tools. i could be wrong but i think it's a pain in the ass.

..lots of people used to do it.. and there were always problems with bad axle angles... crooked engines... clearance at the hood... clearance underneath...broken mounts... the list goes on..

now that quality mounts that you know are gonna hold up and place your engine in the optimum position are relatively inexpensive...its really not worth it

Alright.... what are welded mounts like compared to billet? i know they would not be near as strong, but will they hold up half decent? JimFab mounts are welded aren't they? Does anybody use them?

thanks

I have welded copies of the HAsports and they work just fine, and for half the cost! 3 years, no problems. But the poly they used in these mounts are really stiff. :banghead:

anyone who says welded mounts are not strong enough are simply trying to sell you billet mounts. My brother and his friend WELDED their own custom mounts to put a 350 v8 into an S10 pickup. they welded themounts with a crappy small welder with no gas. that engine put out around 350-400hp and a shitload more torque than a honda ever thought about.

they never broke.

..its not 100% about them not being strong enough..its engine placement as well...

sure, its about engine placement. but if you can place a 400hp 500tq v8 engine to not snap the driveshaft, im sure its very easy to place a honda in the correct position.

Im sure that if you can weld decent and have common sense (unlike those horror stories you hear where people try to make their own mounts and fuck it all up) you can easily make your own mounts.

just in case though, i bought some HCP mounts and copied down the dimensions and stuff so i can make my own if i ever need to ;)
