Engine detonating

My car is detonating, I am running high compression but on low grade gas (87 octane). I am forced to run cheap gas because I cant afford the 91 octane gas. I set my AEM cam gear to TDC and retarded my timing on the dizzy. I don't want to mess with my timing anymore, can I adjust my fuel pressure? My thinking is that more fuel will prevent pre-ignition since too much air and not enough fuel will cause detonation. Do you think if I can raise my fuel pressure, it will level out the air/fuel ratio and get rid of the pinging?

First of all what compression are you runing? Secondly you have to run 91+ if you are over 11.0:1 and generaly you cant go past 12.0:1 on 91... Unless you can tune like a mofo...
Also, who made your pistons?

the b16a2/3 engines are only 10.2:1 compression (USDM) and they require only premium unleaded or better gasoline..

maybe before you guys all bag on him for not being able to afford higher octane gas you should check his location ... arizona ... home of the $3.79 gas prices a few months back ... and im willing to bet its still pretty high.

secondly if you drive as much as i do, an extra 20 cents per gallon adds up. Then again im not running high compression because with this weak dpfi, and stock zc internals it wouldnt do anything for me anyway.
