guys I just bought a CRX with a 1.6 Vtec Twin cam engine, its from a japanese civic. The problem is that my transmisionn grinds from 2 to 3 unless I sort of hesitate and kind of push it a little towards 4th gear before shifting to 3.But if I shift directly from second to third it will grind.I need your help,is it the syncro?

Seems like it would be the 3rd gear/synchro. If you remove the trans & open it up, you should replace all parts needed. What you will need? Who knows until you tear that bitch open. If your tranny is in need of a rebuild I suggest looking a rebuilt tranny - mine came with warranty & was only $300 or so.

You should hesitate no matter what, tranny is not built to be slammed or shifted very quickly. Also your shifter is not a hand rest, resting your hand on the shifter can cause pre-mature wear!

Thanks,Is there anything that I shoud check before to rule out other possibilities, maybe a misadjusted tanny cable or something.I,m no mechanic but I want to rule ouut anything else before tearing down the tranny

You could try adjusting the clutch cable

drain out tranny oil, put in gm syncromesh friction modified, 2 quarts, bam grinding gone. should be in square bottle, not round. go to your local gm dealership to get it

The 3rd gear grinding is a very common problem in 4G Civics.

Welcome to AF..

You can also get GM synchromesh here....the dealerships want $9+ for a quart of that stuff. http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/
