Separating pistons and rods

there really is no procedure, just remove them. what kinda pistons or rods are you putting in there?

I took mine to a shop to get them pressed. It was only 30 bucks. I think you need a machine to do it.

are we seperating the actual piston rod? if so and you dont know what your doing take it to the profesionals. any machine shop should be able to do it for u.

I have the pistons and rods that came in the blown motor from my new CRX. 3 of them are perfect, and I am selling the pistons (they are 10.5:1, and I am going turbo) but want to use the rods to build my new bottom end.

I just need to get the piston off the connecting rod. It looks like there is a little retainer ring on either end of the piston that keeps the pin from sliding out. Do I need to have it pressed out, or can I do it myself?

Also, does anyone know if the rods are the same from the D16A6 to the D16Z6?

ive taken them out myself before. its not too hard, you just have to work at it for a while.

save urself the hassle and bring it to a machine shop, they can do it for ya in 10mins.

ok my ls bottom end is a fucked up, needs crank and rods, but the machine shop i took my piston and rods too said they couldnt take the pin out because it would collapse the pistons and that i will need new ones.

is that true or is the shop trying to rip me off ?
its a 90 ls motor

if they are liked melted and shit it could prolly happen.

they arent selling you the new pistons so i doubt they are trying to rip you off, your better off getting new ones anyway.
