Dizzy Timing?

Hi,

I have the problem of getting my car to rev past 3000 RPM.
Well I am getting a code 8- Top Dead Center.
That is my distrubutor.
So I checked the wires and everything is fine.
However when I looked at dizzy alignment it is set all the way retarted.
When I put the DX dizzy on i forgot to align it properly.
I just put it on there and it was set all the way retarded.
Is this what is causing my 3000 RPM rev limit?
Doesnt it have to be advanced more?
