Shitty fuckin deal man, didn't even have it too long did you? Well you know what to do with the next one, put a really big mean fuckin' dog in it when you leave it overnight and see if they can steal it then. Maybe you will be lucky and someone just joyrided and it can be recovered with little or no damage.

I had forgotten how bad car theft was when I lived in CA. It sucked 20 years ago... :shakehead

About 10 yrs. ago my friend in Pasadena was carjacked at the stoplight where the Pasadena freeway ends, later the cops saw his car pass by while dashboard filming one of those "CA Highway Patrol" shows, and they followed the carjacker in the car until he got caught. My friend actually got his car (bright blue Ford Probe) back w/no damage, and got to see his car on TV. :smokin:

Damn I hate when people steal cars! I remember when someone tried to steal our 91' Camry LE (damaged the passenger lock), my dad installed an alarm system to disable the starter when it went off. Maybe you should invest in one of those brake pedal-locking mechanisms.... they work right?

Well... At least then I'd know where it was... :crying:

Geez! This is a hard thing to deal with! :(

I don't have a lot of faith in the club and the un-brake-able lock and those... Every couple of months or so the evening news shows how easy they are to defeat. :dunno:

I need a thing that pepper-sprays the driver if it's not me!

I'm sorry to hear some bastard stole your car, Jay. I hope that you recover the car with little or no damage. I don't know what to say really. I know how it is to not be able to drive a car after only having it for a month or two, but to not have it at all...man...I'm sorry, man. :(

Edit: you posted while I was typing, Jay. Better yet, you could get a system that sprays flames out from the chasis of the car to burn the fuckers next time (I hope there isn't one). They need to burn in hell at least

Edit 2: And most car alarms are easily over-ridden by a theif. Simply pulling the fuse for the alarm system's "brain" disables it. Also, if it's just a noise alarm, a pair can break into the car, pop the hood, and cut the cords running to the horn in under 8 seconds. It's advisable to install extra sirens/horns controlled by the alarm (at least 3...there are some made small enough to be easily concealed in a car's interior) so that they theives cannot disarm the alarm quickly enough not to be caught. How many times have you heard an alarm go off for a few seconds and just thought, "oh...some idiot accidentally set their car alarm off."

Holy hell Jay, what is going to go wrong next?

I hope you get this one sorted out soon, doesn't seem fair that you just got this car after the old one died and now this.

Shit, this is the crap that happens in South Africa, not North America  :banghead:

Jay, if you have the means, I highly recommend getting yourself a locked garage. I know that is generally much easier said than done, but as you know I have a very custom, very expensive, Integra. Its that locked garage that allows me to sleep at night. If not for that, I'd probably have to sleep in the Teg, with a loaded shotgun in my arms, to feel confident in its security.

But then again, this is Connecticut, not California. I know that auto theft is a much bigger problem there than it is here. So maybe in your situation, a garage isn't that much of a deterrent for would-be car thieves. Humph

i know that nothing i can say will make you feel any better or cure anything, but i'm deeply sorry that this happened, Jay. it just goes to show what 100% low-lifes we have in this world. i hope to hell that you in some way get compensated for your loss, be it the car itself or insurance. and i severly hope that the perp's get struck in the face by a flying marble of rabbit shit that embeds itself into their brains.

i know it's not nearly the same, but my digital camera was stolen on friday night. i'm going nuts about THAT, so i can't even IMAGINE what you must be like...again, sorry. :frown:

Fuck I wish thieves would fucking have a nice glass of Nitric acid- fucking scum of the earth that they are- sorry to hear about the car Jay :( it looked nice as well- What is worse is thieves who can't get into cars so they damage them and flee- like the ones who tried to nick my dads Landcruiser Prado back in 1998 but couldn't- so they broke all the windows :banghead:

Jay,

Like everyone else has said I am so so sorry to hear about the car I remember you were like a little kid when you were getting it as if all you Xmases came at once.

Thankfully I havent had a car stolen although my first car an old Civic H/B was broken into and the fuckers almost got away with it I think they were disturbed. Although it was midly amusing. I got into the car thinking shit I left it unlocked last night without the chain on it. Then I went to put the key in the ignition thinking thats strange the rubber surround is out of place. I still didnt cop on at this stage. So I turn the wheel to turn the car down the road and then realise oh shit I cant turn the wheel back. The bastards broke the barrel inside the door lock and bent the steering column.

Last ime I ever forgot to put my chain on the car. A good safety device on a car is a good length of solid link chain with a great big Yale lock. Its better then any alarm or so called locking devices that you pay fifty quid for. The only way to get by the chain is to cut it and if you get a heavy enough chain its a bolt cutter they will need. Maybe something for everyone to consider. I got that tip from my friends dad who is an ex-garda (cop).

Ciaran

PS Jay I really hope everything works out for you but remember a car can be replaced you or your wife cant.

Jay, I can post it up on a Honda message board I'm on that has found a handful of stolen cars. PM the details about it. It's hard to say that you will get it back :( I know a few guys have had there cars stolen and 2 days later its found as just the chassis :( Hopefully it was just some younger kids wanting a quick thrill and then just dumped it somewhere.

Is he in your custody? Give him a piece of your mind - or at least your fists.

Two important things we've learned:
#1: Remove your car's ignition coil whenever you park for more than half an hour.
#2: Buy a Subaru. (as per the advice of Freakray)
