Any ideas about an ignition switch that doesn't turn? I've tried wiggling the steering wheel and making sure the car is in park. The switch simply won't budge. This is my mom's car and I don't know it at all. 1992 Grand Marquis. Any idears out there? Thanks!

When is the last time the car was used? I know in my '78 grand marquis I had to use plyers just to turn the key back to accessory only. It could be a similar situation for you. You could always hot wire it. Just use plyers and if it doesnt turn over then it will break and pop off leaving you with exposed wire to use at your leisure

Is the steering wheel locked too? If so, you need to turn the steering wheel one way and then turn the ignition.

Check, or replace, your key(s). They may be worn and not moving the tumblers correctly.

I hear that replacement is the way to go on this.

actually a common problem on Ford Ignitions. Replacement is the way to go, and actually not too hard if you want to do it yourself

This post is a little late but the problem I had on my 91 was a bad ignition lock cylinder. The chrome part(like wings) where you put your fingers to turn the cylinder actually loosens up from the rest of the cylinder and causes the key to look like its bent. When this happens the key will not go in all the way and you cant turn the lock. If you look close you can see this looseness and the fact that the key wont go in all the way. Bought a new lock at NAPA and had it re-keyed by a locksmith. Total $45 and works great! :)
