I've always wanted a WRX Imprezza. I alway thought they looked so smooth with they royal blue paint and the gold rims. When I read about the STI it just made me want the car more. Is the $40,000 worth it. It sounds like it with the stock 300HP Super charged engine, and the 13.00 in the 1/4 stock. If anyone could give me some pros and cons that would be awsome.

These cars are not $40K... they can be attained NEW just above $30K..

GOTO Subaru.com and build your own... don't spend more than sticker for your STi!

I am not sure where you are, but if in the midwest of the US, let me know, I'll get youin contact with my dealer!

You have the option with the STi to get either the gold or Silver wheels, the color you are talking about is called World Rally Blue..

I love my WRX, you cannot go wrong with the STi, right out of the box...

IF you do get an STi, and you live where it snows you'll have to get a set of snow wheels/tires because the stock tires are basically street-legal track wheels....

Do some research both on here, and on other forums more specific to the Subaru (autoforums is great, but will never provide the indepth knowledge the others will)

Sorry I forgot,

The Subaru WRX and WRX STi are Turbo-charged, not Supercharged!

for the cash maybe consider getting the WRX and modifying... OR even a pre-owned 02/03 WRX... thay can be had depending on milege condtion etc for $18-22K

with the money you'll save check out Cobbtunning or Vishnu and get the WRX faster than the STi for less $$$

just depends on whether you are comfortable doing some of your own work.

I guess I found a typo in my car and driver last month. They said that the STI was supercharged, maybe they're talking about a new version comming out or like i stated above just messed up. The more I think about it i guess they're talking about an up and comming one, They said they should run between $38000 and 40000. *shrug*. Well thats good to know that they are'nt ALL 40 grand. :bigthumb:

I just bought an STI and it is unbelievable. For basically 31k you can't beat a better deal right now. If you're not into tuning cars, this car has everything you would modify a normal car with. The only down side is I've seen with the car so far is the gas milage, run the car hard and you can see the gas needle drop. Other then that, it's just like the articles read, the car pulls hard from start to finish, never feel any turbo lag and the grip of the car is awesome.

I very much doubt Subaru would ever bother with a supercharged WRX, especially since it is the base model for their rally cars (and GT300 JGTC cars) which can only be turbocharged.

Perhaps write to that magazine and ask them if they know the difference between supercharged and turbocharged?

Not many inports come turbo charged, if anym and not many domestics come turbo, except the grand national, thats all I can think of...

What?
Not many imports came turbocharged?
Do you mean not many imports came supercharged?

I can run you a list of imports with turbo's on them.

BTW, the Eagle Talon TSI is a domestic and is turbo (although in essence it was a Mitsu)

there were a few more then just the GN that were turboed from the factory. The 1991 GMC Syclone (pickup truck), the 1992 and 1993 GMC Typhoon (jimmy) wish i happen to have one of and may be for sale. The 1989 Tubro Trans-Am, there are a few others floating around too.

More turbo domestics:

Gen 1 Ford Probe GT (admittedly, it's mostly a Mazda)
Ford Thunderbird Turbo Coupe
Ford Mustang SVO
Dodge Neon SRT4
Dodge Omni GLH/GLHS

Also, I don't know if you'd count all the pickups with the various Turbo Diesels out there, there are a bunch of those.

Basically, a turbocharger is driven off the exhaust gasses, and a supercharger is driven off the crankshaft. Generally, a turbo is more efficient, but a supercharger works better at low RPM's

i would consider eclipse/talon/laser mostly mitsu, since mitsu basically did all the engineering part of it, and the interior. the design of the car was designed equally by bothcompanies, mitsubishi, and chrysler.
