Hello everyone;
I just bought a 2001 4Runner LTD. It came with only one remote & I'd like to buy an additional one. I was checking listings on ebay & some come with programming instructions and some do not. Don't totally trust their claims & would feel better if I had instructions from another source.
My remote has 3 buttons on the front (lock, unlock & rear window) with a red panic button on the back. The FCC ID # is HYQ1512Y.
Thanks in advance for any all help.

The dealer was happy to give it to me so here is the procedure. let me know if it works. (Camry 02 and 03)
1. Driver door open and unlocked. Key out of the ignition
2. Insert the key and remove 2 times in 5 sec.
3. Close and open driver door 2 times in 40 sec.
4. Insert the key and remove it again from ignition.
5. Close and open driver door 2 times in 40 sec.
6. Insert the key in ignition,
7. Close the door,
8. Turn to on and back to lock in 1 second intervals. 1 time for add, 2 times for rewrite, 3 for confirmation 5 for prohibition. (yes, there is no “4”)
9. Remove the key
10. Power lock will cycle to confirm
11. For add or rewrite mode within 40 sec of the confirmation,
A. press “lock” and “unlock” buttons of the FOB at the same time between 1 and 1.5 seconds.
B. within 3 sec press “Lock” button for more than 1 sec and release.
C. If it’s correct, the power door lock will cycle once. If it’s wrong the door lock will cycle twice.
4Runner Instructions
I have a 1999 4Runner and I followed the directions above (which I've copied below) with one exception. In step 8 -- I held the lock button instead of the unlock button in order for the directions to work.
Step 1 - open drivers side door and get in your vehicle.
Step 2 - put key completely into ignition, then pull out.
Step 3- with door open, lock and unlock 5 times on door console (ten clicks total).
Step 4 - close door then open door.
Step 5 - lock and unlock 5 times on door console (ten clicks total).
Step 6 - put key completely into ignition then turn to the on position then pull key out (you will now hear the door locks lock then unlock a couple of times)
Step 7 - now quickly press the lock and unlock buttons at the same time only for about a second.
Step 8 - then quickly press the lock button for just a second.
Step 9 - exit car and close the door
After you do this you should hear a beep then your lights will flash. This will indicate that your remote is programmed to your vehicle.

I purchased a 03' Toyota Keyless transmitter but I can not program or find the instructions for programing the transmitter. The dealer wants to charge me $80 for programming (No Way) Actualy they said "$140 for remote, $80 to program remote, and another $60 for key". That was $280 for ONE new remote and key! Belive me, I told them they were out of their mind to charge that much. I wanted 2 keys made but I was not going to paid over $500 for a set of keys. I now have the new parts but I need help with programming. Can someone please help?

Hey everyone, I solved my own issue (I like it when I can do that). If anyone needs codes for 95' - 03' Toyota Avalon, Camery, Celica, Corolla, Echo, 4Runner, Highlander, Matrix, Prius, Rav4, Sequoia, Sienna, or Solara I have most of these (they all use 1 of 4 different codes).
I will try and post all 4 codes some time but not tonight. It's late and there is to much info to list. Maybe I will just post info on my personal web site and give you all the link. I have a hard copy at the moment.
If you need remotes, check here: http://cgi6.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewSellersOtherItems&userid=mykeyless&include=0&since=-1&sort=3&rows=50
I bought mine from this person and it was new and all original Toyota keyless remote at a fraction of the dealer price and worked great! He will also send you programming information.
Take Care Everyone! :sunglasse

Here is a way for programming a remote for a 2000 Avalon. This method should work for 2001 Avalon also.
Key out
Driver door open and unlocked
Insert key into ignition and pull out
Lock then unlock the power locks from the master switch 5 times
Close and then open the driver's door
Lock then unlock the power locks from the master switch 5 times
Insert the key into the ignition and turn to ON then OFF, then remove key
Locks should cycle - If they don't repeat
Press both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on the remote simultaneously for 1 second
Immediately after letting go of the two buttons, press the LOCK button for 2 seconds
The locks should then cycle once. If they cycle twice, try again.
Close the driver door
Key out
Driver door open and unlocked
Insert key into ignition and pull out
Lock then unlock the power locks from the master switch 5 times
Close and then open the driver's door

This is an oddball....
Remove key from switch
Disconnect electrical connector from door mirror adjustment switch
Jump pins 2&10 in connector
Door locks will cycle
Press a button on remote
Door locks will cycle
If you have another remote, press any button on it
door locks will cycle
Remove jumper
Entering programming mode erases all previously programmed remotes
A maximum of 2 remotes can be programmed to a car.

Can anyone help me with programming instructions for a 2001 Toyota Sienna keyless remote?
I see some programming instructions for other Toyotas but I don't know if any of them will work on a 2001 Sienna.
Any information would be greatly apreciated.

Thanks for the responses. I found a OEM remote w/programming instructions on ebay for $17 INCLUDING S&H. That's about 88% cheaper than what the dealership wants to scam out of me.

I thank you for the programming instructions for my 99 4runner. I ordered a new transmitter off Ebay and saved close to $200 from my local dealer. However my problem now is that if I lock the vehicle w/ the transmitter and open the door w/ a key the alarm goes off. Is this normal? How do I program the security system to recognize both the remote and key?

Is there a way to de-program a remote. It now works for two 1999 4runners in the area. I tried to remove the battery but that did not de-program the remote. Is that some thing that removing the battery on one of the cars will solve or is it in the remote it self.

Ranga,
The 97-99 Camry "purple wire" instructions are for the factory GQ43VT7T remote.
If you have the BAB237131-022 remote for the dealer or port installed system, the instructions are different. Are you sure you have the correct remote for the car?

I know it's been a while since you offered to post toyota transmitter reprogram codes, but I have a 1997 Avalon and just bought two new transmitters from wireless and the program instructions deal with resetting the security ECM and I have spent 2+ hours tearing apart the dash to no avail. I tried jumping the light warning module in the trunk with no luck. So, if you could post the procedure for my avalon it would be great. Thank you
:iceslolan
:sunglasse

Hi folks not sure If I am doing this right. First time - anyway I need the programing instructions for the remote entry for my 2000 Avalon. I have read the instructions posted. Only problem is that My car is in Australia and only has one button on the remote labelled "Doors". I am hoping it is an older or different version of something delivered in the US. Failing that if there are any Aussie readers who could help I would be greatful

Is there a way to de-program a remote. It now works for two 1999 4runners in the area. I tried to remove the battery but that did not de-program the remote. Is that some thing that removing the battery on one of the cars will solve or is it in the remote it self.
In step 8 of JDEL section. You need to switch ignition ON and OFF for 5 times
to erase all registered codes.

I just used this programming on a new (free) remote and it worked. Thanks for posting this so long ago

Does anyone know the battery type that goes on these remote control. I bought CR2016 which seemed to fit but still did not work. The light was not on when pressed. originalkeyless.com personel told me to use CR2025 but it is too thick to fit. i have tried to reprogram but did not work i think due to the remote control battery issue.
What is the right battery for this remote?

Previous programs for 2000 Camry keyless remote don't work. The following program is the right one.
1. Start with key out of the ignition, driver door is open (all others closed),
and driver door is unlocked.
Insert key into the ignition (don’t turn it) and pull it out
Perform these steps within 40 seconds: a. Using the power lock switch on the driver’s door, perform 5 lock/unlock cycles with lock.
Use an even pace and try to go about one cycle per second. 1 cycle = 1 lock and 1 unlock)
b. Close, then open driver’s door.
Perform these steps within 40 seconds: a. Using the power lock switch on the driver’s door, perform 5 lock/unlock cycles starting
with lock.
Use an even pace and try to go about one cycle per second. (1 cycle = 1 lock and 1unlock)
b. Insert the key in the ignition cylinder.
c. Turn the ignition to ON (as far as you can without cranking the engine) then back to OFF.
d. Turn the ignition to ON (as far as you can without cranking the engine) then back to OFF.
e. Remove the key from the ignition.
Within 3 seconds, the power door locks should cycle automatically indicating successful entry
into programming mode.
Return to step 1 if the locks do not cycle at this point.
Perform these steps within 40 seconds: a. Press the lock and unlock buttons on the transmitter simultaneously for 1 second.
b. Immediately after letting go of the lock and unlock buttons, hit the lock button by itself and
hold for 2 seconds. Within 3 seconds, the door locks should cycle once indicating successful
programming.
If the door locks don’t cycle, or cycle twice, repeat steps a and b-your remote has not
been accepted.
c. Repeat steps a and b in step 6 for each new and existing transmitter.
7. Close driver door.

and driver door is unlocked.

2. Insert the key and remove 2 times in 5 sec.
3. Close and open driver door 2 times in 40 sec.
4. Insert the key and remove it again from ignition.

11. For add or rewrite mode within 40 sec of the confirmation,
A. press “lock” and “unlock” buttons of the FOB at the same time between 1 and 1.5 seconds.
B. within 3 sec press “Lock” button for more than 1 sec and release.

I ran into this problem. My issue was that the door closed/open sensor was busted because at some point, my metal seatbelt latch got caught between the door, and the frame/sensor, and I closed the door (thus smashing the sensor behind the rubber housing on the door frame). I got around it by snagging the working sensor out of the passenger side.
