Hello everyone;
I just bought a 2001 4Runner LTD. It came with only one remote & I'd like to buy an additional one. I was checking listings on ebay & some come with programming instructions and some do not. Don't totally trust their claims & would feel better if I had instructions from another source.
My remote has 3 buttons on the front (lock, unlock & rear window) with a red panic button on the back. The FCC ID # is HYQ1512Y.
Thanks in advance for any all help.
I have lost the only keyless remote for my 2004 4Runner. I thought I had the number from the back written dow. Is there another way to buy a remote without the number?

Depends on which remote system you have.
Factory or DEALER/PORT installed? (RS3000)

Hello! I am so confused... i have a '98 Camry and have been using a BAB237131-022 keyless remote for about two years. It suddenly stopped working so I assumed it was the battery and bought a new one from an auto parts store. I can't figure out how to program it, and the dealer wants $50 to do so- any ideas??

Hi all,
I just purchased a 2000 RAV4 for my son, it has power locks and windows. Previous owner did not have a keyless remote. How can I find out if his car has that option and if so can I buy an after market remote on eBay? I would greatly appreciate an email response [email protected] Thanks!

I have an 01 4Runner SR5 with the Karr alarm/keyless. I tried the lock/unlock 5 times, close open door, and lock/unlock 5 more times, etc. I got into the programming mode (I think). It cycled lock/unlock by itself. I pushed the buttons on the remote, then the lock by itself. I get the lock/unlock twice meaning it didn't take.
I tried the whole procedure again and I can't get it to the programming mode again. Is there something else? Is my system locked out for adding another remote. I have 2 that I'm aware of.
Thanks.

[quote=daffy_duck-010;1723940]The dealer was happy to give it to me so here is the procedure. let me know if it works. (Camry 02 and 03)
1. Driver door open and unlocked. Key out of the ignition
2. Insert the key and remove 2 times in 5 sec.
3. Close and open driver door 2 times in 40 sec.
4. Insert the key and remove it again from ignition.
5. Close and open driver door 2 times in 40 sec.
6. Insert the key in ignition,
7. Close the door,
8. Turn to on and back to lock in 1 second intervals. 1 time for add, 2 times for rewrite, 3 for confirmation 5 for prohibition. (yes, there is no “4”)
9. Remove the key
10. Power lock will cycle to confirm
11. For add or rewrite mode within 40 sec of the confirmation,
A. press “lock” and “unlock” buttons of the FOB at the same time between 1 and 1.5 seconds.
B. within 3 sec press “Lock” button for more than 1 sec and release.
C. If it’s correct, the power door lock will cycle once. If it’s wrong the door lock will cycle twice.
i already tried this procedures on my Prado 2004 and believe me it work so keep trying :-)

Can anyone provide programming instructions for a used keyless remote fob I will be buying, to work with a Toyota Landcruiser Colorado (1997 model)...

Land Cruiser "Colorado" is a non-US type. The 95-97 LC all use the same programming type.
Direct Link - http://originalkeyless.com/1995-Toyota-Land-Cruiser-Keyless-Entry-Remote-95-FJ80-FZJ80-SUV-95-Land-Cruiser-TVSS-Remote.htm?categoryId=-1
Press and hold the green programming button on the side of the control unit with a pen or pencil until the exterior lights come on. The lights will come on for five seconds. (next steps must be done within 5 seconds of each other.)
Press and release the top button on the transmitter.
Check that the LED goes out, the siren chirps once, and the front marker lights flash to confirm that the transmitter's code was accepted by the control unit.
If you have other transmitters to program, repeat that step for each one.
(Common location for receiver is under the driver's seat)

Program keyless remote
I'm really can't find the green button under the driver seat. :banghead:
Please can you tell me where specifically underneath the driver seat on a Toyota Corolla 98-01.
My 1998 Corolla did not have a green button. It was a recessed button on the side closest to the driver's door. There shouldn't be a problem since there is only one button on that side. The directions posted worked for me. Thanks.

DESPERATE!
Hi I have a 1999 Runner SR5 with the VIP RS3000 facory installed alarm. I purchased the HYQ1512Y alarm remote from Ebay and I am tryign to program.
I have followed the instructions that came with it and the one posted on this board. I can get into the programming mode, but I cannot add the remote. I keep getting the locks to cycle twice(unsuccessful) instead of once (successful) when I hold either the lock or unlock button for 2 seconds.
When I insert the key into the ignition, do I have to turn the key once, twice, three times, or ultimately 5 times? I am getting frustrated?!?!?!
Thanks in advance to all.

Theres your problem right there.
The RS3000/VIP remote system is DEALER/PORT installed.
Your FCC: HYQ1512Y remote is for a FACTORY installed system.
The remote you need is FCC: BAB237131-022 which would have originally been the GRAY case type, but you can also use the BLACK case type of the 96-97 models.
(that interchangeability only works one way, a 96-97 model MUST use BLACK case and cannot use Gray).

Thanks.....but i noticed that the BAB237131-022 has only TWO buttons(lock, unlock) on the front. My original key FOB had three (Lock, Unlock, rear window). So maybe its not the VIP RS3000? Very confused now

If your original remote had the rear window type, then it IS the Factory system.
The remote should be FCC: HYQ1512Y, but if you are getting into programming mode and the vehicle responds, but the remote will not respond - the remote may need the batteries replaced or could be defective.
****Make sure you are not pressing the brake pedal at all during the procedure as it will interfere with programming mode.
*
*** Also, some customers report success programming with the driver's door open - where others report success with all doors closed.
IMPORTANT: If the procedure calls for turning or inserting and removing the key in the ignition, this is time sensitive. Try speeding up or slowing down your pace on this step.

I assuming the remote is repsonding since the locks are cycling, but twice. I will try your suggestions. Thanks for your help!!

One thing i forgot to mention is that the hyq1512y remote i purchased online has a picture of a car with trunk open instead of the rear glass window on the third remote button.
Are there 2 hyq1512y remotes out there? I thought the FCC ID # was the most important thing?
