Im sorry but I hate this car... I really wish someone would tell me something impressive in any means that would justify the dorky looks of this horrible car....

"SUBARU" is a Japanese word meaning "unite," as well as a term identifying a cluster of six stars which the Greeks called the Pleiades -- part of the Taurus constellation. According to Greek mythology, Atlas' daughters turned into this group of stars.

Definitely can't touch the Echo in terms of dorkiness!
I kinda like the hatchback, kinda, but really dislike the rest (I just have a soft spot for hatches :D)
Once the Focus RS is upon us, all will change..

As a Service Tech in a Ford dealership, I love this car. I wouldnt own one myself, but the simple fact that it has replaced the Contour makes me love the car. A lot easier to work on , and a lot less problems

Hey well now that the SVT focus is coming out it will go to 60 in an impressive 7.0 seconds...Thats what they reported. Which would make it a pocket rocket...However i still don't like the looks.

They should produce a focus that looks like Ford's Focus GT(I think that's what it is) concept. That car looked sweet, even for a Focus.

the focus is a great example of a ugly car with good marketing and maybe some subliminal messages. Otherwise I don't understand why someone would buy one

Well, I'll agree with everybody. The focus is one DAMN ugly car, but I've just recently seen one that I really really like. They showed on on TV, it was at the Detroit car show, I think, But they had made the hatchback into a cube van design, and I tell you, impractical as they come, and it doesn't sound like to would change it enough to make it look good, but it did. If anybody finds a picture, they should post it. I'd like to see what everybody thinks.

I'm not a big fan of them either, especially the sedan (ick!). However, at the Ford dealer I'm currently working at, they modified one that is now for sale. A black hatchback with a subtle bodykit, small spoiler at the top of the back window(Dodge Caravan Sport style), custom exhaust (rumbly, not weedeater), cold air intake, 5-speed, tinted windows. It's actually really nice (and sounds good driving by). 16 inch 6-spokers and lowered suspension as well.

Yeah it is ugly as hell ....i never thought that i would ever like a focus ..but their is one it was in car and driver or something ....but it had 300hp and it was decked out . The only time i can ever say that it was actually nice

Well you could only see what the rest of the world has to offer in the name FOCUS you would probalby look for you nearest Ford dealer. I myself love and live by Honda! I have owned 3 Accords 2 used 1 new. I will now own a Focus completely loaded ALL OPTIONS under $15,000 delivered! HELLO? Civic? Neon? (my wife has a new one) Civis 127hp Neon 135?(where?) Where is Hondas' World Rally Car? Where is Dodges'? Oh yeah and for Subaru WRX, well maybe you should look up the Colin McCrea and Martini Racing. Ford ahs been racing in more forums than you priceless Chevy, Dodge, Subaru, Porsche, Nissan(owned a 280 and loved it), Ferrari(PUKE) and Lambo lovers. You want to see real performance look over in Shelbyville Homer there is life outside of Springfield and they are ready to eat you V8! Mits EVO series is coming to America if the WRX sells good and I know a lot of pissed off NSX owners that will not take their cars out on weekends to be terrorized by some EVO VII or a Pug 206WRC that cost half as much and can't even go light to light! So when I return to the states with my Focus RS, Please IF I beat you in an unlawful street race don't come after my car, it just did what it was told to do and what it was bred for racing. World Rally Car Rules! Long live small cars with big HP and all wheel drive. Oh yeah here is a pic of the Focus RS at Nurnburgring GE stretching its legs!

didn't take Well will not let me attach it. Hope this will give some people the ability to look outside to what else is in the world. I have talked to a few people with Audi's and they did not know that the A4 came with a V8 here in Europe! 3.6sec 0-100KPH(61MPH) STATIONWAGON! Lets see a Porsche feed a family of 5 in one trip!

Oh, I've already looked...I'm deep into European and Japanese home market models. I like Focii now. Except the sedans. Europe has a 5-door hatchback, like the ZX3, only with 2 more doors. WRC rules.
Now. Some people (not me, but that's irrelevant) happen to like V8 American cars, even if they are slower. That's their opinion and they are entitled to it. You have yours, and I respect it. Just keep that in mind next time you post, please...we don't want flames here.
As for that wagon...I'm assuming you mean the RS4. It has a 2.7 twin turbo V6, not a V8, and Audi claims 4.9 0-100. If there is a different, faster model, please enlighten me. :D
That Focus coupe idea inspired me....it has a few rough spots, but I tried. :D

Well like I said there IS such a monster HERE IN EUROPE. I hav talked to a lot of Audi people and they all say the same thing. No it doesn't exist, well IT DOES. I live in Europe and for the last 5 years have been enlightened on how much we Americans get left out on the good stuff! NA get a gas motor AllRoad while the europeans get a diesel and gas motor for the allroad. Trust me when I say that NO RS4 can pull away from my BMW with that kinda speed. I have only see that with Ruf Porsche, BB512 Ferrarri, and Lambos and 1 McClearan F1. I will look for some pics for the RS4+4 at Audi next week after I pick up my new Focus I have been waiting for for 5 months now on Monday.

dude.. focus replaced the escort, not contour. Infact if you dig deep and find someone made an article in 1998 about the next escort.. and they decided to change the name to gain more support from the aftermarket. I live in the US.. and im sick of seeing my money go overseas.. so THANK F'n GOD a domestic is out that can finally own its class here in the usa.. I Love automotive technology, but id hate to see my hard earned money(yes mommy or daddy didnt buy my car for me) go elsewhere just so people can be unique and drive an "import"
People would be shocked to know how many motors are engineered in the us, and by US companies.. then sold under an import name. Be happy that ford is pushing something that is NOT a gas guzzling POS.. like every other company.. they don't even promote the mustang as much.. which is completely diffrent than a focus.
If you really are a car buff.. and you really are pasionate about technology, performance, and all the other goodies.. stop being so biased. Theres not enough time.. and to many good ideas!

I own a focus Sedan and I love it
there is lots of stuff out there for the focus and they can be just as fast as any other car
I also don't know any car in the US that handles as well as the focus for under 15K
No one thing I will say is that the DOT focus looks really bad
the euro focus got much better bumpers and tail lights along with lots of other goodies that ford left off the DOT focus
my plan stick the euro bumpe on my focus and improve the looks 100% maybe even the RS kit(not the bumper on the focus RS)
By the way good to see someone I know(Jinstall) from www.focaljet.com

I would have to say those figures are pretty crappy. No offense. But supercharged with nitrous and he can barely pull more than 200 HP. I only have a turbo my car, which is stock, and I can pull 205 HP and 240 ftlb.

You know, a buddy of mine has a 2000 Focus ZX3 hatch. Forget how many miles he has on it, but not that many. Under 40k still.
Spends it's life in the dealership. He typically puts on 20k -per year-. Every time he turns around, SES light is on or the car isn't running right. Three different dealerships have been through the thing, and he already got two or three PCMs, and a whole new -cylinder head- when it started making valvetrain noise. That's not including seven cam position sensors and that thing for the exhaust cam variable timing.
Personally, I'd never touch one of those. I'm done buying Fords anyways.. that pissed off that they killed the Escort, still unhappy about the 96-97 redesign and subsequent elimination of anything resembling performance. :P

Sounds to me like the dealership is the problem. I have seen virtually no engine/emission problems from this car. I hate the car, but mechanically, it seems very sound.

Wow! I see the e-mail pop up with your reply.. I keep opening it waiting for a flame... and there is none... Thank You!!
Hyundai has come a long way, and I must congratulate them.
As far as GM goes, I am impressed with both the cars I listed. Longevity still hasn't been proven for the new models, but I don't see a lot of owners complaining about them, so they can't be too bad
Although Saturn is under the GM corporate umbrella, I don't consider them as a part ... probably because the vast difference in dealer experiences... anyway, when I purchase another new car it will be either an S series or an L Series. Saturn won my loyalty with all aspects of ownership. I don't know why I strayed and tried the Focus, probably because I have been a long time Ford owner, and loyal Ford fan. Love my F-150.. hated that Focus.
