Between the good press of the European Focus (which is a different car), and their limited test time with the vehicle, it is easily feasable.
Give them the POS and make them drive it as a family car for 40,000 miles, and they will slap themselves for being so stupid!!

Now thatīs a stupid comparison, a 10 year old Corvette to a brand new Focus? Did you think about people need the SPACE to carry FIVE people and a NICE DESIGN with all the EQUIPMENT??

I'll tell you why the North American Focus sucks, cause the real Focus is being sold in Europe with AWD and 300HP.

i also got a focus about a month ago (zx3 (hatchback) dark grey), great handling, not very fast but that'll change. One of the best things about it is the legroom, I'm 6'5" and i fit in it perfectly. My head would be out of the sunroof if i had a civic or almost any other compact or sports car. What cars do you all have that are so amazing, that makes the focus a piece of shit that cost under 15 brand new w/ power everything?

I just bought a 2001 Ford Focus SE Sport sedan about four months ago and it's great fun terrorizing all kinds of expensive machinery when the going gets twisty!! It's not too fast by any stretch but it handles like a dream!! (I also own a 1970 Pontiac Parisienne with a factory 300hp 350 that's exactly the opposite - real snarly in a straight line, not so much in a curve - lucky it's like 4000 lbs so traction's not a problem). I didn't much like the Foci at first, but the styling grew on me, especially the sedan, which looks good in silver with the alloys and spoiler. Those make a big improvement over the cheap-ass Focus LXs. Pretty decent factory stereo too, for an economy car. Lots of interior/trunk space, much better than Neon/Cav/Civic. As a matter of fact, my wife's ex-boss had a brand-new 2002 Civic coupe GIVEN to him as a company car, and he hates it SO much he wants to trade it for our Focus!! I told him to keep his junk LOL!!!

Focus, that's what should be written on the walls of the design office at Ford, so designers can remember to focus on what they're doing. The Focus is pretty high priced for a domestic car put together with bungee cords. How embarrasing. The focus already has 14 recalls, just follow this link if you think I'm just some basher:

Just remember, however, the TYPES of recalls some of those are: an A-pillar trim clip, Sony Subwoofer defect, etc. Then think of the manufacturers that HIDE their recalls, or don't admit it. Look at the Mitsubishi fiasco, where there were 30 years of complaints hidden away in a locker. Look at VW, who finally had to admit a long standing problem with their coil packs, that could strand owners or cause fires, and their window regulators, that took 5 years to redesign a simple clip. I'd rather see a company redesign a part and retrofit it, than one that steadfastly refuses to admit their cars have problems.
I know more than enough Focus owners who have no problems with their cars. A recall does not mean the car WOULD have that problem, but that the factory thought it might, so redesigned the part.
For example, the SVT Focus only had one recall, for a throttle cable/cruise control cable that could stick. The recall affected less than 600 cars, most of which got fixed before they even hit the dealerships. Most Focii have had the required work done to them, and should not be problematic for their owners.

You must be a highly biased person to refer to "fords" as awful vehicles. An uneducated person would say aweful, when someone who is educated would just simply say "GT40" maybe. Lets take a look at the Le Mans history....Ford beat Ferrari so bad they QUIT!!!! I dont see you saying Ferraris are aweful...Speaking of quit, if Ford were so horrible, dont you think they would have stopped production in the last century sometime? I mean, they are only the longest standing vehicles in the production line. I bought an '88 Mustang with 153,000 miles on it when I was 16 and was waxing greeenwood edition Corvettes, and various other cars, without any maintenance! I have since sold the vehicle and purchased another mustang, a focus, and a limited explorer, all without issue. On another note, if the Foc sucks so bad, then why are there more body kits being produced for the ford Focus the the famed HONDA CIVIC??? (courtesy of import tuner!!!!) the focus is a great car. there are three main complaints i here about the focus. the first two are its ugly and its slow, thats because ford basically needed to replace the ageing contour and escort. although the current focus is slow the future is bright. already in california and maybe other states i'm not sure you can get a much faster 2.3L engine and in 2005 the focus will get a face lift. the third complaint is that the us version uses cheaper parts than the european version but i would still put it up against any 4cyl dodge or gm has. soon the "tec" battles will heat up as the zetec becomes a competitor. down with the vtec!

Unbelievable how brainwashed people are over this POS.
My 91 Escort GT will run circles around the Focus (I owned one) The Escort handles better, stops better, gets better gas mileage, rides better, the motor is quieter, and guess what!?
The 1.8L in the Escort out runs ever Fuckus on the road.
As you sit there with this look on your face:eek7: and get ready to dispute me, I will tell you straight up that the American Focus is mis geared. That's why the Escort out runs it.
Yes, you can do a lot of mods to the Fuckus, but the racing engines that have been built around the 1.8L doch Mazda motor are endless, and far less expensive than that boat anchor Ford calls a Focus..
Yeah- if Fords focus was on building a real American front driver that can keep up with the competition, someone needs to change their eyeglass perscription, cause they sorely miss the mark by a long shot.

Haters , haters , no offense to but the US spec focus is SHT. Go to Europe and you be stanned . The Euro spec focus's look better and get much more BHP. You can even get REAR wheel drive conversions. That right. The EUROPEAN FOCUS RS (218bhp)(0-60MPH 5.9sec) this car comes standard with Sparco interior , 18X9 RIMS bi-xenon lights etc it would crash US SVT everyway. If the model below the RS the ST would below. If you think the SPORTS COMPACT is hard site side. Go to euro theirs a long list of motors the BLOW in if the brought to the States. The compact in posh inside and run like MotherFers.here a few compacts that are blazing euro Vauxhall (corsa,Astra),SEAT (ibiza, leon), Renault (CLIO, Megane) ,Alfa (147,156/157) etc. The dogde Neon is [email protected] by the way just because your FOCUS version is trash doesnt mean its the same on the other side.

I'll drive nothing else in the compact market. When i make my millions, i will have a ZX5 with a 5.0L V8 and rear-drive conversion, available from Ford. I'll pick on BMW's infamous M5 with that set-up!

To transform a stocker focus into a car that runs 11's, could probably do it under 10-15k really. Turbo/blower set up with a timer, exhaust, headers, high flow cat, new wheels and tires, new chip cams and gears, and a stage 1 weight reduction, your lookin 10-12k with the weight reduction. BUT you could also do the weight reduction yourself, rip out the backseat, carpeting, spare tire, seatbelt brackets, spare tire trunk liner, headunit and speakers, passenger seat with brackets, jack, loose some fuel in the tank (a general rule of thumb for racers is to fill up with only a quarter tank when heading to the track). Plus not to mention all the stuff a stage 2 would do.

Me retarded and stupid in the same post... i'd pursue this but after such an ignorant post i think you already proved the point i was going make.
Why would i have a suped up Mustang when every tom, dick, and henry knows at least 1 person that has one? A V8 Focus makes a great sleeper car, thus that much more fun to take racing. Plus, can't you just see the look of horror on the face of an M5 driver when he can't get the thing off his tail? Hilariously fun!
I don't care if you think it's dumb or not. Being as ignorant as you are, i can see why you would, but you're entitled to your own 2 cents.
I'm done with this thread, there's too many foolish people (ie zx2srdotnet) on here to bother.

I don't care if you think it's dumb or not. Being as ignorant as you are, i can see why you would, but you're entitled to your own 2 cents.
I'm done with this thread, there's too many foolish people (ie zx2srdotnet) on here to bother.
When you're done growing up, we'll have a conversation about this sort of thing. Until then, stop making yourself look foolish, that will only give me reason to make you look more foolish.
LOL, zx2srdotnet :loser:

spend 20k and get 11sec focus or spend 12k and get a 11sec focus, now who looks smarter? and teh 1 sec focus would be more of a "sleeper" cuz it would sound more like a i4 w/ header and exaust, and less like a roaring v8

You both make great points, and it really comes down to personal taste. I think landyacht would like something that not to many people have, and zx2srdotnet likes the traditional "build on what you have" approach.

im gonna have to agree w/ zx2srdotnet on this one, landyacht is a retard and who in their right mind would spend 20k on a fuckus. after you beat one M5, you're gonna look back on your wonderfull "investment" that you just wasted 35k on and be like "what the hell was i thinking, i don't even like focii and besides, they're ugly." spend money on a real car that you can enjoy for a long time like a chrysler crossfire or shit, you wanna spend alot of money on something fast, get a dodge srt-10. its the fastest production truck ever made. ultimately its your decision but don't complain to people when you figure out that you wasted a year of your life tuning a piece of shit.
