I thought Japanese for 20 was just "Ni Ju"....

Niju is just the number 20, while nijussai is the age of 20.

15 (12 days till 16 and license!! As though that has kept me off the road :D )

Although I have noticed I have more knowledge on cars than 99% of adults out there, and in REAL life, have only had a real decent conversation with one person!

Same here, we should meet up sometime soon, I'll give you a decent conversation! My friend Mike up here knows as much or more about cars as I do, and we had about a 3 hour conversation about nothing but cars last week :D:D

Guys, to clear up the japanese translation for '20'.

20 is 'Ni-jyuu'

When you say it as your age, you would say - 'Ni-jyu-ssai'
Notice how a little contraction takes place. The direct translation for that is "20 years"

Not if you live in NJ...damn lawmakers
16½--permit
17--"Restricted" License or some shit like that they call it
18--License

Judge
11-25-2001, 08:24 PM
NZ = 15 - Learners
16 - Restricted
17 - Full??

something like that.

Alberta, Canada - 14 = permit :D, 16 license

Too young to be driving methinks, although I certainly didn't when I was 14!

Around here I think it's 15.5 gets a permit, 16 gets a license (if has a permit and taken a class), and 18 gets a license without a class.

I think they also recently set up up a law to restrict teenage driving so you can't have other teens in the car with you; apparently you're more likely to get into an accident if you have your friends in your car.

uk- 16 liecense......:D  :D

CamaroGirl86
11-25-2001, 09:39 PM
Lets see:
16½--permit--no one under 21 in the car, only 1 person.
17--"restricted license"--1 family member or 1 other person over 21
18--license--anyone.

im pretty sure thats the way it is here. i could have the passengers mixed up for permit and RL.

I heard that Europe has stricter and tougher driver examinations, well Germany anyways. Is this true? The tests here are a joke.

ragt20
11-25-2001, 09:45 PM
the tests are pretty strict.... you have to pass a written test b4 even applyin for practical.......which then I think U are allowed upto 3 minor mistakes anything over or even one big mistake....U fail...........

In Ontario, a blind chimp on crack could get his beginners!!

Here, its:

16: G1 (beginners, cant drive alon, someone with 4 years experience must be in the drivers seat, no driving on highways with speed limits of 100kph, no driving between 12-5) It is a written test.

Take a driving course
16 years, 8 months: G2 (drive alone, no booze) it is a driving test

If no driving course
17: G2

12 months after G2
G (full license) it is a driving test

In New Brunswick it's like this:

16 - Class 7 graduated 1 - 0% alcohol, 1 Class 5 liscensed passenger
16, 4 months - Class 7 graduated 2 - 0% alcohol, no other restrictions
18 - Class 5 - points begin to cumulate (points are good, they are subtracted if you get a violation, 0 points = no liscense), can be the passenger for a Class 7 G1
18 - Class 4, 3, 2, 1 - All optional, these are simply licenses for bigger vehicles, class 1 can drive anything including transport trucks.

Its 15 for learners but you dont graduate to teh next steps by age

learners-restricted takes 6 months from time of gettinglearners
restricted-full takes 18 months or 12 months if you do a defensive driving course

Chris

My cousin in Calgary got his beginners when he was 14. But most places in Canada you need to be 16 to get any license.
