i have an 91 civ hatch dx 1.5 and an auto trans, when it shifts the gears it shifts really hard like and manual trans and will chirp the tires on dry pavement shifting from 1 to 2 gear and sometimes 3, and im wonderin if this is normal for these cars with auto trans?

no i havent had major problems, but ive only have had the car for about 20,000 miles (most all miles are highway miles), when i bought it(100 bucks) i had to change the halfshaft, tie rod end, brake rotors and alterantor and the guy i bought it from took good care of it with maintence and shit, ive had good luck with it

very possible. i had a busted mount & then the bolt fell out of another mount...every shift was rough. i would assume the same for an AT. then again...who knows what the previous owner and previous mechanics have done. have you downloaded the helm's shop manual yet?

most likely it will be your rear mount. i had the exact same problem on my old hatch and your description seems like the same problem i had. after i replaced the rear mount, problem was fixed.
good luck

my car only has 87,000 miles on it, and sometimes when its really hot out, like 85+ my tires will chirp when it shifts into 2nd and 3rd.
