i like the scion, and the element, no the looks of the element, but i like the interior and size, it is like, the best road trip car and it has tons of room but it doesn't show it, and for me i dont care how a car looks i only like how it performs, or how it is comfortable, and the scion.....just looks cool to me but its kinda so-so on certain people i have friends that luv it, and some that think its weird.

Ass-tech by a mile. The afore mentioned Subaru wouldn't look half as bad if it weren't canary yellow. The ugliest car i've ver seen was a worn out Dodge coronet station wagon that was as long as a football field and was large enough to house a family of four (and I think it did). The sides of this thing stuck out so far that you could actualy sit where the doors meet the windows. Yet when this car was made we were the strongest country (or 2nd I guess) in terms of nukes and other higher technology. I don't get it.....

All these cars that are being discussed are all crap there's no one winner they all win at sucking.
It's a consumer niche market where a bunch of old dudes think they know what the young generations want,
and the end result is this pile of shitty cars.
Why do they bother? There are still the bandwagon hoppers that buy them. :banghead:

All of the above. I just don't get why you'd need a car that big,
they're ugly,
get horrid gas milelage,
roll over in the slightest turn,
it'll crush anything smaller than it.......do I need to keep on about this?

new cars: Nissan Maxima, Honda Insight, Subaru Baja, Mitsubishi Diamante and Galant.
old cars: 90's buick skylark and oldsmobile cutlass, Avanti, 90's Chevy Caprice (especially the wagon with the wood on the side!)

People who want to go out and buy a new car along the lines of a Scion is the result of years of research *snicker* at absurd shows like Hot Import Nights to develop something for the new gereration of drivers. People get hyped up from adverts and publicity with no prior knowledge of anything to do with cars. Dumb kids get what they're told is made for them and it's hip and other sweetened lines to grab their attention. Rarely does anyone look into what the car is and whether or not it does what its supposed to do. All the subs, neon and nitrous in the world still can't make true, the fact that these new cars are worth taking a second glance at.

does nobody like the scion xb? i luved it, and when you test drive one you would to, they're great, and there is so much room, it is the perfect road trip vehicle, hands down.

"So much room" Any old American granny yacht.

Add to that the feeling of riding on air in your la-z-boy recliner and air conditioning that can practically grow ice on the vents and you have a real road trip vehicle. Not a Scion Xb.

The Scion Xb is a marketing ploy that probably didn't cost Toyota jack shit to make, (another plastic fantastic, didn't cost a dime to design the looks of it, uses minimal parts), and for some reason, people enjoy buying a box on wheels. Shrink a Kenworth or Peterbuilt Semi. They'd look better and run longer, but still be just as boxy as anyone likeing Scions could love.

i think that further into the future people will start to like cars like that, and other companies will start it, and when its made cheaper, its cost is cheaper to, and the scions isn't really much plastic, no more than any other normal car.

The 'edgy' look is futuristic, but I think when people think of 'edgy' they're not thinking of a bunch of parallel lines... they're thinking more of an aggressive flow, not a Picasso masterpiece. Cubism needs to die and stay dead, especially when it can move and assault other peoples eyes with its hideousness.

I would have to agree with Neutrino on this one. That scion is just downright horrid. I agree the Aztec is ugly, but at least it has some angles on it that isn't 90 degrees. The scion, on the other hand, looks like it was drawn by a 3 year-old...

wow, in this thread I managed to run inot several awful looking cars but speaking of the modern ones, I could point out BMW 5 and 6 series, along with Hummer and Pontiac Aztek

I would consider the Honda Element in the same category with the Scion. It's just as ugly. I could design both cars all by myself, without consulting anyone else

One of the ugliest cars produced must be the Pacer or Prarie. Of cars being produced today? Impreza.
