whats going down over here. man i am a vw person but have to tell about vw waterfest. some turbo civic decided to show up an tried to show up some dubs but wasnt very successful. he ran twice in time trials nefore majorly screwing up his hatchback. at the end of his run there was lots o' popping and hissing and i saw him pull into da pits. when i looked to see what was goin on he grabbed a fairly large socket, pulled back, and went kung-pow in the engine compartment. after an angry slam of the carbon fiber hood (i think i heard it crack) he stormed off only to return with a truck and trailer. I think he'll think twice about messin with german powa. MUH-HA-HA-HA-HAAAA!

Wow, so no Civic will ever be able to beat any supremely overpriced ($25k sticker for a VR6), ugly, underpowered Jetta? By the way the Jetta won 1st place in most homosexual-purchased car in early 2003, oh wait I should go to VWvortex.com and spread that word so I can be cool like you.

If u want a good car you start with a good one that has more possibilitys then some 4 banging non displacment.

ALL cars have possibilities.

I doubt if your VR6 has as much potential as my four-banger for half the price...

more possibilities? pardon me, but the aftermarket response for my fourbanger is vastly more extensive than that of your porky V6 hatch. i actually test drove several volkswagens, and they were all slow, with LOTS of body roll around turns, and mushy trannies.

plus parts for VWs are extremely expensive for the gains you see. for example take neuspeed. 270 bucks for a CAI? gimme a break

No, but the price difference between the two is about $10,000 for the 106 horsepower model. That extra $10,000 spent on the Honda could make it able to destroy the dub on the skidpad, quarter, and street. Both cars would then be $22k-$24k cars.

i never said 105 hp was fast. who said anything about that? mine actually has 160, which is quite different from 105. all im saying is 200 hp is a LOT slower than it should be when its paired with 3000+ pounds and a shitty suspension. and youre going to have to expect a retaliation like this when someone comes into the honda forum talking shit and bragging about *cough* VWs..

Ok so with a 10k car yes u would save an extra 10k to put into it!

But if u could put that same 10k into the vr6 youd be pusin about 500 hp without a bottle!

you dont get it.

we're talking about if you spend the same amount on both cars. if you spent 10 grand on your car, itd be a 34 thousand dollar car. the "extra" 10 grand he is referring to is the DIFFERENCE between the civic and yours. the 10 grand in mods for the civic would result in the same amount of money spent on your bone stock vr6

Don't even bother trying to explain to this dumbass, he still won't get it. Back in my first few posts I went pages and pages trying to explain this to a mustang owner and he was so fucking stupid I wanted to drill a hole in my head from trying to explain it to the moron.

Mr. Rice buys a $13k Civic DX.
Mr. Hitler buys a $23k GTI VR6

Mr. Rice spends $10k in mods on his $13k civic. $13k+$10k=$23k
Mr. Hitler still has a stock dub which costs the same as the modded Civic, but is now slower, heavier, and handles worse.

Please tell me you understand this simple math.

I'm not trying to down GTI's as they are great cars, but to make them tolerable you need a chip and suspension for starters... there's about $2000 right there. I test drove the 1.8T a few months ago and it felt a little slow for the price of $22k or so. While driving around in it I noticed a shitload of little buttons, switches, unnecessary options etc. and started realizing why the sticker is so high.

I've seen extensive modifying done on Vr6's that cost a fortune pity they still didn't produce much more than 280hp

If you look under my avatar, the four-banger that I was referring to is my car's SR20DE, which cost me 1,800 dollars, including the car it came in;).

For 900 dollars, I can get a replacement motor, the SR20DET, from a JDM Bluebird, with 180HP. The only difference this motor has from it's 240HP brothers is an intercooler, and smaller turbo, which another grand should take care of, with a couple of hundred more for engine management/ECU.

The DET can hold 500HP on stock internals, whilst the N/A DE has been known to hold up to 400HP with stock internals, at a hundred-thousand miles.

Like I said, ALL cars have potential. Some are just cheaper than others.

For the likes of us that aren't Bill Gates, that equates to the VW not having ANY potential at all (read: too expensive, can't do it).

kickazzjetta
07-26-2003, 12:14 PM
yeah ricochet there is one major difference in our cars. yours is made by a group of underpayed , retarded japanese kids who know only how to stamp one piece of metal all day long. the vws though come from the papers of some of the smartest engineers in the world and are produced by sophisticated robots (except the ashtrays are mexican). type r crap can be sold for $19000 because the labor rates are so low in japan. how many hondas that were built 30+ years ago are still running today and have been reliable since they rolled out of the factory. you show me 1, i'll show you 600 in junkyards.

kickazzjetta
07-26-2003, 12:25 PM
carrrnuttt the only reason your parts are so cheap is that you run with the big crowd. there are so many knock offs of good stuff that the japanese performance market is flooded with ripoffs and crap. if you have connections , persistance and a love for your VW it has much more potential. and by the way is your 400 hp street legal? I think not. my friend has a VW GTi that puts 346 HP TO THE WHEELS and he passed emissions and inspections with the second highest ratings on both. the max potential for a honda (as told to me by a honda performance expert) is 186 hp for 1.8 L NA (for those carnut wannabes that means Naturally Aspirated or no forced induction) i agree with the potential of your SR20DET carrrnuttt, ive seen it done before , just it wasn't street legal.

kickazzjetta
07-26-2003, 12:46 PM
hey you honda people, there is 1 more difference in our stuff. its a little word honda peolpe dont know much about because they dont have to worry about. it is TORQUE. how much torque you guys puttin down cause there is now way you could match the VR6 specs. 200 HP and 195 ft-lbs of torque. I know of many dynoed hondas that had many thousands of dollars of work put in and got nowhere near that torque rating and werent close to the power either. how do you say $10000 makes a honda faster. your exhaust system (a good one) is $3000+ and gets at most 15 hp and usually looses torque. that gti_vr6_racer will take most streetable hondas at the track. wait... oh yeah you guys are afraid to see what will come up on the printouts cause you cowards only race on the street. Organized street racing for money is retarded. its all cause you dont want to get beat and have proof of that fact

civicHBsi91

civicHBsi91
07-26-2003, 01:27 PM
how many vw's do you see in the pro's? where do you get 3,000 dollars for an exhaust? honda is one of the worlds best motor making companys, sure the occational vw will make high mileage.....but when have you seen a honda die from normal driving under 100,000 miles?

KamiKaze Accord
07-26-2003, 02:13 PM

Come to think of it, the VR6 has just as many cylinders as you...

What are the non-turbo VW 4-bangers making nowadays?

Their 2.0 liter makes about 110HP. I know, I almost bought a 1997 Jetta with that motor in it. I test drove my (R.I.P.) 1997 Civic LX, which was a LOT cheaper, quicker and ultimately more reliable, besides being better with gas, with it's .4 liter less of displacement.

Apples to apples.

The current crop of Honda 4's (K20A) make more power than the current crop of turbo-4 VW's, while delivering better gas mileage.

The VR6 can then be matched with the new Honda V6s, which Kamikaze has an example of. Even the older V6, with 200HP and 200TQ was a match.

KamiKaze Accord
07-26-2003, 05:39 PM
right you are carnuttt, even the 00-02 Accord V6's matched it with 200 hp, and 195 lb of torque. What a missinformed poster.

well if a 196 hp car will beat a 400 hp car that thing better have some serious weight advantage

unfortunatelly its statements from rice boys like this that give the rest of you honda drivers bad reps.....just because that civic has been worked over by spoon and has 196 hp doesn't mean all of a sudden can beat 400hp cars.....even if it has a better powerband....

only thing that could make his statement valid is a huge weight difference.....
