pyramid is about the shittiest brand of stuff you can buy, there products are so overrated it aint even funny, me and my boy bought an 800w pyramid amp back when we first got our cars, the amps barely pushed like 160w total, they sucked so much.

wouldnt even waste my time with this set.

for a beginner......JVC all the way...

I've owned 4 Jvc headunits over the years, and have NEVER had a problem with any of them....and at about $150 a pop, you really cant beat it.

I have a pioneer premier headunit with the organic display. (the first one), its like 2 years old, but it rules. I've had it fixed 3 times though. I had a ground problem in my old car, and it kept frying the internals of the unit. D'OH!!!

As far as cheap speakers, its really just a toss up between any of the big names....kenwood, pioneer, clarion.

My favs would have to be anything from boston or infinity...Both company's quality is awsome.

rofl, thats exactly what that dude thought about when he put it up in ebay
some newb will spend his money on this!!

dont get it, use to sell that stuff. You should really do more research into your buys, this is a very obvious nono if your into audio.

i've got a Pioneer head unit, and sony xplod speakers all around, and it's pretty good sounding, i'm trying to find some subs....

Problem_Si

DO NOT GET ALPINE TYPE R SUBS

Now with that said, the apline dvc 12" sub was a VERY good speaker, but with a very SHITTY design flaw. I dont know anyone else who has these, and if this is common with these speakers, so bear in mind this is based on my own personal experience.

I have one of these, and it is now garbage. The speaker leads going from the terminals to the speaker cone are too short. So when the speaker moves, it slowly rips the small 14 gauge wire lead from the cone, and eventually causes the speaker not to work. I have done everthing from gluing the wires in place, to adding extra length of wire, but eventually, the same thing happens.

What I really want now, is 2 Infinity Kappa 8's.....but fucking they stopped making them a year ago. The smallest thing they have is 10". I want to mount 2 high quality 8's in a OEM fashion somewhere in my hatch. So getting a 10 is not an option. Im going for good sound, minimal mounting space. I've been looking at some boston 8", and they look pretty sweet, but the price is a little high. Anyone have any other suggestions as an alternative?

if you want really great subs, get JL Audio, i've always hear nothing but good response from anybody with JL subs....there pricey..but everybody says there worth the extra cash....i have no clue if they make JL 8'' though....I was also looking to buy 8'' subs...i dont want trunk rattling blasting hurting your ears so much you can't understand the words to the song- kinda sound, just more bass, to make the music sound great....

:angryfire :crying: Some of these little punks stole my JL Audio 12's subs. I had a Sony Xplod headunit and changer, and pioneer speakers. Speakers ran on seperate amps and I had a nice crossover too. The system was off the chain and I miss it dearly:swear: But it is all good, because I'm coming back bigger and better. I already got the Audiobahn 15's with my headunit from ebay on the way, oh yeah, not gonna forget the alarm. Everytime I see these little thugs walking through here I just want to:biggrin2: :chair:

Nah I don't know who did it really, but the neighbors were telling me about these teenagers that are always getting into trouble around here. One stays about 5 doors down and another stays behind our house, but they hang out in big groups and play basketball at the house behind me at all times of the night.

i saw the clarion super sub in my town one time, its like 3' across and like 2' tall, you prolly need like 100amps to even move the thing.

MA Audio makes a 34" sub too :D

But for GOOD sound quality speakers, I'd go with CDT Audio. The are absolutely the best speakers I've ever heard.
I'm running 2 CDT Audio 8" subs in my trunk right now, and you'd swear they were at least 12's.... I'm soon going to switch out all my speakers for CDT Audio speakers, and pick up a couple of their 12" subs too.
As for amps, I use all orion amps.. nothing else.
CD players, and other electronics, I'm quite fond of Sony for.

tsk tsk tsk...I can't believe you people don't know about Adire Audio. As long as your willing to use a bigger then normal box, they are the best price/quality subs you will ever have. www.adireaudio.com go look at the tempest and the shiva. I had 2 Shiva's in my 4 door 2000 civic when i had it and they fuckin pounded the shit out of it. I was only running 1/2 the wattage that they could handle too. Just imagine if I had money for a more expensive JBL amp...yeesh scary. Anyways, they're only like $125CDN/each and they can handle like 650watts rms EACH. Nasty power for the cash. Plus they aren't sloppy! They're so tight I almost cried when I sold em cuz I needed cash badly.
