coolant everywhere

I was driving the other day and my temperature gauge has never gone above the middle before but that day it was just a little above. I kept driving and all the sudden it skyrocketted. I got home and there was no coolant at all left. I filled it up and drove good for another week. Then it happened again. Now it happens every few days. When I park the car, coolant immediately starts leaking, steady drops if not a drizzle. Its coming from a strange spot though, right underneath the alternator. I cant get a good enough look at it so I was wondering if anyone knew where it might be coming from. I just need the car to run for another week or so, so im not too worried about it, but I would like for it to be in good enough condition to sell.

water pump is right near where the alternator is. so im guessing the water pump is dead.

that would cause coolant to go everywhere?

yeah itll fit, but you are better off just buying a water pump. its not that costly considering you will get a lot more mileage outta it than that one in the other motor.

I actually try to change my water pump every 100k miles or so.

I drove for a long time without a functioning water pump, or coolant for that matter. Although I limited my drives to 10min. It'll run strong for quite awhile, trust me.

It might not be the pump. The coolant pipe on the back of the block runs right there as well. I had to change mine because a small scratch had rusted over the years to form a hole. Jack it up to see if you can't get a better view. If that black pipe right under the intake manifold is wet, or discolored, thats your problem and they are a major pain in the ass to change, due to the slight U shaped bend in the middle and the lack of room.
