alright, i keep failing e-tests, the reason is i'm burning too many hydrocarbons... how can i fix this? and what causes it??
the limits 200, and i was at 789..... they turned the idle down 2 600 rpm and it went 2 442... it has me baffled, i need to know this asap!!

Ok, here's how you get around those pesky emission problems (ive done it a few times, but not recently...). First, get a drill and a small bit, or a hammer and a small nail will work. Second, put holes in the TOP of the cheapest pipe to replace. Put those holes in the top to keep them from easily seeing them.
Seriously though, make sure your car is warmed up, and you aren't burning anything like injector cleaner, and have newer gas in the car (like don't try to pass on 3 year old gas).
If all else fails, do the first option....

ouch dont do that just put a new cat on i got my DOHC ZC to pass Calif emmisions like a NEW car with 20HC at idle and 22 at 2500rpm and NO Co and no like 10 nox so just go wtih a new cat it will be better than putting holes in your exhuast

Disconnect the PVC valve hose & plug it or bad cat. I've heard adding some alcohol to the fuel tank also helps, havent tried that one yet.
