Peloton25

Wow - I've never seen those shots. They're most certainly from Colin Curwoods photoshoot of 56XPGT but they don't match any of the photos in Driving Ambition exactly. The bottom one is very close to that 'low angle photo' you say you have - that comes from pg 240 of DA. Where did you find these?

copy the whole link, not just the bit thats highlighted and take out the [IMG] tags

Peloton25
10-18-2003, 08:44 PM
You can't just cut&paste the full URL and pull the IMG tags because AF.com truncates links that are too long. Even by cutting and pasting the part that isn't hot-linked and trying to 'Copy Shortcut' on the part that is, I still couldn't get the image to load as it is missing a '?'.

If you want to post a long URL and keep it from being truncated, you need to turn off the "Automatically parse URLs" checkbox below the posting screen. That keeps AF.com from applying any formatting to it. I was able to find the thumbnail you are referring to via a Google search and here is the full URL:

http://images.google.com/images?q=tbn:X2gy5GHRPCgC:www.mira.co.uk/press_release/graphics/mcf1laprec.gif

...however, that being said, I refuse to even go look for this photo in my XP5 folder until you learn to use the 'Edit' button. :banghead:

Call me an @$$ or whatever you want, but there's really no need to make multiple posts when all you want to do is add an additional thought to your previous post. I edit my stuff all the time - in fact, I even edited this post.

I've never seen those - seems kind of odd. Maybe they were building that to form a fiberglass skin over or something...

I'm intrigued, so I'll see what I can find out.

Peloton- I was annoyed the server broke, but basically I think they made a mould of an f1, and then attempted a fiberglass body, these were on the site for a little while but in 1999, and they only showed those pictures.. none whatsoever of a mystery finished product, although I do remember on the site the man taking orders for replicas if the product was sucessfull..

Anyway, you find anything else about them?

Anyone have larger McLaren replica pics?

-Mike :smokin:

Hey I found some more replica thumbs

look what I found ...

Attention:
Building a McLaren F1...
The McLaren is known as one of the most exotic cars in the world, of course you know that. Also one of the hardest to get, We are building a McLaren F1 replica. This is like no ordinary replica though. We build the chassi from a 1 1/2 " tubular powder coated steel, instead of a some other stretched car. It can be powder coated any color you would like. We have a racing suspension, carbon fiber body, BMW V12 modified, CD player, working fin in the back, working compartments, and center drive. This well built car has the same dimensions as the original, cant tell the difference, and the differences will be the gold lining in the engine compartment and the satellite uplink. We do not have those. The original goes for you know a cool 1 to 1.8 million dollars. Did you also know, if you bought a real McLaren you are only allowed to drive it 2500 miles a year? If driven over 2500 miles they take the car back. We of course do not do that, you may put as many miles as you want.
Our McLaren may be serviced at any BMW mechanic or any BMW dealer. When the car is registered it will be registered as a McLaren F1 R1 or just McLaren R1. You may have this car painted in any color you want, frame and body, and...if there are any differences you want done differently to this car you may ask and we can possibly add or subtract what you want or don't want. We can make it a limited edition... Please reply and ask me any more questions you may have. Price will go up on demand, and we will not make very many. Please get back to me asap

$160,000 down starts the car, you pay the rest when finished, or you can go ahead and pay in full. Up to you. We will not start any car unless we have a deposit, car is very costly and takes 4 to 4 1/2 months to build. But the wait will be worth it..

Order now and get yours before summer 2002
Have fun in the sun!!! please spread the word the McLaren is back!!!

Thank You!!

Jeff

They made a really, really good copy of a Porsche Carrera GT and apparently someone in Reno, NV bought it. I don't know if it's true, but I called them a few years ago when I heard about it, and that's what they told me.

I seriously doubt they got very far with the McLaren project.

Here's a few more thumbnails I don't have the originals on. I'm sure they aren't the greatest photos since in normal CarClassic.com fashion, the backgrounds are blurred out. They appear to be photos of the Schaefer Automobile car - the car I assume is the Dark Purple Pearl #025. If anyone has them, please share.

I'm going to go back through this thread later and see if I've found any of the requested ones now. There was a silver one that mini magic posted that looked familiar to me, but I couldn't find my copy when I went searching before. I also can't recall if mine was any bigger than what he posted so it may be of no use.

if not I will post them.

i seem to have misplaced some photos that i cant seem to find, instead of creating another thread i decided to post them here. the pictures im missing were taken from a photographer whose name i cant remember, but judging from the pattern of letters, i would say he is from eastern Europe. the pictures where of a silver F1 on a track, in some of the pictures it was accompanied by a red Ferrari F50.

if you guys can help me out, that would be great.

What about the driver's seat? It's black with the beige insert in those photos. Otherwise it's a dead-ringer.

Peloton25
11-13-2003, 10:16 AM
Yeah - it's definitely not #007.

This is the F1 I believe to be #025 Dark Purple Pearl - these photos, and most of the other ones I have of it just aren't a great representation of the true color.

Here are some photos whick show the true color:

Here's a better shot of the interior taken at the Essen Motorshow a few years back:

That's not the same helicopter, and it's not really racing the helicopter in that photo. The photos come from an AutoCar article and I believe that Gordon Murray and other McLaren Cars execs had arrived or were leaving in it.
