A strange sound

I've got a strange scraping sound coming from what sounds like the front right wheel on my 2002 wrx. I can hear it when driving slow, going over bumps. Also when i step on the brake, or start back up from a stop. It's almost like I can hear it whenever the weight of the car is shifting. I'm wondering if it might just be coming from one of the shocks. I don't hear any clicking, loud noises, smell anything, or hear anything when I'm driving along at a constant speed. Any ideas?

check the front strut spring cup (lower) for gravel or debris, etc. Lube upper strut shaft mount with silicone. Also something loose? Just a thought.

Something is rubbing when the car starts in motion or as you say, when the weight shifts, it could be any number of things from the strut down.
Whatever it is could be risking your safety, take the car into a Subaru dealer or anywhere that can check it without charging you (my local Subaru dealer doesn't charge when he checks things or runs diagnostics on my Impreza, he only charges if they actually work on the car).

I can think of several things that could cause a noise like you're describing and none of them are very inspiring.

Is the car still in warranty?
