Had a dodge that just kept clicking trying to remove it. Go buy a new cap because you'll bust yours up removing it. First answer was how I removed mine. Scroll down for a drawing. http://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/general-car-chat-lounge/43827-oil-cap-help-not-comming-off.html

Then my guess is there is a rubber seal that over time, heat, etc has bonded to the cover. Have you tried removing it when the engine is hot? Other that that. Small taps with a block of wood with a hammer or big pair of pliers. Like I said earlier, have a spare handy.

if its due for a oil change take it to a shop and let them get it loose when they do the oil change. bet they just put a large set of slip jaw pliers on and turn, will come loose or break

i would say you have several options, take it to a minute lube type place or your mechanic and ask them to get it loose for you, use a large slip nose pliers or piece of wood and a hammer or a strap wrench, or remove valve cover and take it to someone that can get it off for you like a machine shop. i would use the wood and hammer or the slip nose pliers myself and if you break it you would have to replace it anyway. might want to get a new one first so you don't have to stuff a rag in the hole while you drive down to get a new cap

Got it. many thanks. Used a piece of wood and a rubber mallet like
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Blackspur-HM207-Rubber-Mallet-Wooden/dp/B000QF7EWQ/ref=sr_1_3/280-0587059-2398417?s=diy&ie=UTF8&qid=1432818310&sr=1-3 to loosen and then got it open with hand and a cloth around it
The cap is ok does not seem damaged. Closed and opened it several times to check.. Thanks guys
