Dear Members,
Windstar 2000, 260K, ABS not functioning, previously ABS light on all the time now of even with Key on Engine Stopped. While a long drive after 1600 KM failed to apply the Cruis. Horn not blowing. Retried cruise engaged but resume, horn, deceleration did not not function. Stopped, disconnected battery for half hour cruise and horn started functioning. Again after 400 KM stopped functioning. Now it is intermittent. Tail lights normally working. Cruise deactivating switch (switch unser the master brake cylinder) was changed by ford 5 years back, it is dry no signs of brake oil on it. Fuse no 10 is OK. Rapid repeated turning steering wheel has no effect. CEL On since 4 years code is for bank 2 CTM. Any suggestion ?? Azharj

You may have a failing "clock-spring" connector in the steering wheel assembly.

12ounce thanks
How to confirm it? Even today I have been using cruise and nothing abnormal.

That's difficult. If the "spring" has never been replaced, you may considerate it "due". The assembly is nothing more than a multi-conductor tape that tightens and un-tightens as you turn the wheel back and forth. Eventually it fails, and even though there may be other other things that are causing your symptoms ...it would be first on my list. Take care when/if you replace it ... not doing it correctly can cause immediate breakage.

12ounce thanks.
I did my best to get full instructions to remove the steering wheel and change the clock spring for the windstar 2000. But could not. Can any member help me with good pictures? I noticed a new observation, today, that horn works with the key less entry remote but not with the steering switch. What does it signifies?
I observed turning steering wheel the dead horn and cruise remain dead. but stopping for some hours and cooling makes them alive.

Curious - did you get the SCDS (brake pressure switch) replaced during the recall?

12Once, you were right. After a few days cruise and horn became totally dead. My previous observation that they alive after stopping for sometimes, was just a coincidence. I replaced the sprig Part No. YF2T 14a 664 BA (without leather). Now it is as good as a new one. Thanks. Replacement job is easy. But the electrition had to disconnect battery and also the harness to the cruise bmodule located under the air cleaner on the transmission before it started function again.
