If you own a Tib, and your losing to Honduhs, then it's either A: You have an automatic, or B: You can't drive a stick.

If hyundai can call honda honduhs, automotuve world is doomed. Say honda drivers, since Honda as a car company is far superior. Civics are meant to be econony cars and the drivers who doesn't have enough money put in kits and intakes are the blame. Tib isn't the worst thing is the world, but I find hyundai owners who tends to flame honda cause of its dumb drivers I found hilarious.
when you make a car that's better then NSX, start flaming Honda, but that will never happen, so can you please stop and flame the drivers, not the actual car company.

HHHHmmmmm......last time i checked, was in the Dallas sunday paper, and it mentioned something by some company, J.D. Powers (whoever that is) which stated that as of 2003 Hyundai has tied with honda for the number 2 slot, with toyota still in #1.......but hey, what does J.D. know??
Check it out .USA Today: Hyundai ties Honda for #2 in reliability and quality (http://www.usatoday.com/money/autos/2003-03-11-cr-picks_x.htm)
Since i've had my tiburon, I have yet to lose to any Honda I've raced. I'm not sure how much HP I have, since i haven't dynoed it, but i do know from experience that i stay neck and neck with the new GT Mustangs from light to light, and i burn them in the 60ft and take off, which i think is damn good for an I4 2.0L 4cyl.
I've hated Honduh even b4 i owned my tiburon. I also currently own a 1987 300ZX Turbo, with a sponsership thru K&N, which runs the 1/4 in 12.86 sec @ 131mph (traction issues, but thats what happens when your pushing 536HP out of a 3.0L V6 with the car only waying 2700lbs after weight reduction), and still, even with my times shoe polished allover my car, and sponsership stickers( i currently have 2 speed shops in TX backing me also), i would still have honda's trying to race me on the street. I will say one thing about honda OWNERS (i hope i haven't offended any of them)......they do lose gracefully.
I hope i haven't offended anyone, or come across as flaming, just the main thing that erks me is every1 trying to say that honda is soooo superior, have of which, haven't even tried out the NEW hyundai's since the company's now been taken over by people who give a damn about quality and reliability.......oh yeah, and uh, where's honda's 10yr 100,000 mile warranty?

you think i haven't heard all that? As a company SALES, hyundai ain't too shabby. I know that and I awknowledge that.
You realize that Honda=Acura and Honda as a company is treated here different then Acura. No way in HELL can acura be tied with hyundai for quality. Honda also produces Motorcyles, ATVs, F1 cars, electric wheelchairs, lawnmowers.....in the world not just in Korea. They are the first hand innovaters in clean car technology. And no matter what kind od those "www" or hard facts you bring in, Honda's technology and passion for the quality car will no be beaten. I have yet to see any car that is engineered like NSX that can produce such specs with mere c32b v6 motor that poduces only 280bhp.
Wheres hyundai's Hydrogen powered car? Humanoid robots? Does hyundai's car use the least gasoline possible in gasoline fueled car? Where's world's best LEV or NGV for your almighty hyundai?
Best yet, I have yet to see Any AWD or RWD stock production cars that produce above 200bhp or more here in US. Hyundai has yet to make anything that seems impressive. The day hyundai makes such a great chasis for mass production car that can compete against EVO, STI, ATESA and make such an engine to accompany such technology, then I'll shut up and give hyundai props. So I guess not in at least 20 years.

TIB V6
2.7-Liter, V6, 24-Valve, DOHC, MPFI Engine, Front/Transverse Mounted With Horsepower Of 170@6000, Torque Of 181@4000, Aluminum Block and Cylinder Head
TIB I4
2.0-Liter, I4, 16-Valve, DOHC, MPFI Engine, Front/Transverse Mounted With Horsepower Of 134@6000, Torque Of 132@4500, Cast Iron Cylinder Block and Aluminum Head
Stang GT

Hmm lets do some simple math
You aid you have i4? 134bhp vs. 260bhp, 260 torque vs. divide that by half....
oh sorry I forgot your intake and exhaust and your bored throttle.
intake give or take 5-7 bhp assume you get good set up, exhaust anywher from 3-10 bhp, TB not too sure, but mainly high end power.
Well no rocket scientist is needed for this.
Next time race something like RSX, Type S, TSX, hell NSX to see if dumb Honduh is that crappy. Stop racing stupid ricer boy in civic or old integra. The GT You gotta post pics, Dyno, timeslip cause you're one of those typical "I beat !@$!%^ in my tib! u'all Haters'"
as for the warrenty, I do not know. And not much I can say excpet it is a good sounding warrenty. But how come I haven't seen much NEW tib in here at all?(I live in OR) I saw 350Z more then new tib. If they are so great and cheap, why aren't people riding them?
What hyundai needs to do is come up with a unique technology like VTEC, NSX like honda, Rotery for Mazda, Evo for Mitsu, Supra for Toyota....American companies like Chevy got corvette, Dodge got Viper... Hyundai got no Flagship cars.
Hey as for sales and all, Hyundai sain't shabby like I said. I see this won't last unless Hyundai realizes that company needs something unique rather then copy the trend of the auto market.
I ain't going to shut down everything, so I know Hyundai can make a difference. But not until you get some intelligent marketing and innovative technology that sets your foot solid in the automotive world, you guys are still floating without a destination.

ok hmmm I will give Tiburon a little respect my friend has a 1996 FX and ran a 15.2 at track he clams it is stock but we know thats a lie
Anyway can you name one car other then the tiburon that honda made the is worth talking about I mean look at the 1993 Scoupe Turbo wit a respective 16.3
( and the turbo did what to this car):loser:
and then why would you but a tiburon up next to a DX or EX or CX what about placing it next to a SIRor SIR2 or SI
I mean really Hyundai is worst then ford
Like I said before they should add truck heaters to their car so when you push it in the winter your hands will be warm:dogpile:

Well, i see the only people here that disagree seem to be honda and mazda owners. i kinda expected feedback from some tiburon owners. You non-hyundai/tiburon drivers gotta have atleast some intrest in the tiburon, or else you wouldn't be on a tiburon board. If i was bashing on honda's quality, then why would i say the tiburon TIED with them??. I haven't raced an NSX, so i can still honestly say i haven't lost to a honda yet. I've raced old civics, new civics, Si's NO SIR's, accords, all of which have had all or most of the usual mods ie; intake, exhuast, headers, cams yada yada. I wasn't comparing the tiburon to the NSX in any way.....look at the price difference. For UNDER $20,000 several companies/magazines have rated the 2003 tiburon as the best sports coupe. Compared as 4 cyl. the I4's that are 5 speeds are quicker than the civic stock and have more torque. The civics I've raced have had a 1.6L or 1.8L the I4 tiburons have a 2.0L. I don't know how the civics shift, or the mazda's. When racing my shifts are from 1-2nd @35mph, 2-3rd @ 70mph, 3-4th @ 100, and 4-5th @ 130. I've taken it up to 145mph, but the Z3 i was racing finally shut down, and i beat him by about a car length. We raced on the highway, from a 65 mph roll and i pulled on him the whole time. I've never even driven a honda so i don't know what they're capable of, but i do know the ones i've raced, i've beat.

I just came here and post since there are many hyundai owners that seems to be "lost" about their cars. $ is factor about the cars I agree,Nsx is very pricy car. But honda has far superior technology and that's what my point is about. Hyundai cannot make a car as good as NSX with the same budget.
I get kinda irritated when I see company that dones not have half of the technology and innovation as Honda bashing at them(Well not actualy hyundai, but many owners of hyundai). Civics are great economy cars but not really a racer car unless you have serious $. Civics aren't originally meant to be a SPORTS compact car, but an economical car, like that of elantra. And NO I WILL RATHER LICK A TOILET THEN OWN A HYUNDAI. I do not have .0000001% of interest about actually owning any hyundai.
I do admit, that tibby is a decent car for $ I never doubted or challenged that. I just rather much pay extra to own a honda then Hyundai. Hyundai simply gives many serious car enthusiasts bad impressions.(But in reality, I'd buy nissan.) Hyundai isn't really known to be "Fast." They are "sorta" trying but it is just another economical-compact sports coupe with very cheap components piled up to run under very poorly designed V6.
But like I said, Hyundai isn't off the market or complete crap....well close. They do have future and that they do have chance to shine. But I see no strength from Hyundai as a car company in the future. That's what I am trying to say.

Like I said "TRACTION ISSUES".....and i already have an automatic in it. I know i'm not the world's greatest driver, and the fact that i'm on normal street tires MIGHT have something to do with it.......hhhmmmmm. It's has a shift kit....5 speed auto with primary and secondary overdrive. I've tried shifting through the gears, and i've tried leaving it in drive and mashing it....only a lil bit'o difference in times. Either way, i burn my tires for a good 300-400FT......funny, even in an auto i get a 4th gear scratch :dunno:
(In reference to my 300ZX, NOT my tib)

Hyundai is a budget car company, based for people who dont have a lot of money, but want a new car with SOME speed. I am highly doubting your I4 beat a Z3 or stang. Also, i want to know what kind of Accords youve raced. Id looooove to race you. V6 6-spd coupe. You wouldn't stand a chance, unless youre fantasy kill stories have truth to them.

I've raced one newer accord on the highway. I don't know what year model it was or if it was an auto/manual, but it had stock dual exhuast. From a 60mph roll, i pulled on him untill 90mph then we pretty much stayed the same distance apart 1-1 1/2 carlengths ahead of him untill we shut down around 115mph(i didn't pull anymore, and he didn't gain anymore). ALSO.....i never said i beat a new GT stang in a full fledged race....i said i beat him on the take off, and the 60ft., then he caught me, and we stayed even. It was a Mustang GT "bullet" or "billet" i have no clue what that is. Thats the only one i've ever seen so i don't know it power ratings etc. ALSO, my profile doesn't list all my mods, just some of them. Like a magician says, it's always good to leave a little mystery. All i'll say is that i don't have pussy juice (NOS). There's lots of things you can do to a tiburon. Hell, I've seen a 10sec. Tib that was AWD that had 2 engines one in front one in back and both were turbocharged. OH, and get this, it ran 10's on street tires AND it was an automatic. It's rare that you see a 600+hp tiburon, but they do exsist. Bring yourself to Ft. Hood, TX. The MP's allow 1 legal street-race night a month, then we can see how your Accord fares...you might beat me, you might not, but the whole point of racing is to have fun and watch fast cars go fast isn't it? Like i said i haven't lost to a Honda yet, but there's always some1 somewhere faster....i just ain't met'em yet. And the Z3 i raced got royally spanked. He was an older man 40-50yrs old, and he was amazed that i beat him. We pulled over at a gas station and BS'd a bit, about cars, and the military (i'm active and he's retired). He couldn't believe it was a hyundai, but most people can't either. Oh well, i'm sure ya'll think i'm full of psychobabble, but thats cool, this board is for conversating, and debating, so i guess we're fulfilling it's purpose. I enjoy every1's feed back even if you do call B.S. i know the truth and thats all that matters, but like i said, a lil friendly debating is fun. My wife and I are just settling into a new house, and once we see how much money we have to play with after bills, i'll try to invest in a digital camera to help quench your thirst for some valid proof.
You just dug urself a hole man. So hyundai needs 2 engines WITH TURBO that uses JET FUEL to run about 600bhp. :spit:
I saw that car on a compact sport magazine and I just laughed. ANYONE can do that with 2 engines with turbo if you have $. That's cheating especially if its not running on gasoline. I find this hilarious.
600BHP is your average modded supra:bloated: on ONE ENGINE and ONE TURBO that uses GASOLINE on STOCK automatic. Hell Why don't we put 2 JZ engines and run like 1300bhp on gasoline, oh wait maybe you can get it close to 1000bhp with a single engine supra so maybe we don't need that.
It's cool discussing these things with you since you are being somewhat mature compare to that chrometib, but I am kinda disappointed in that reply. :sly:

i can settle all this right now, i have a tib and my friend does too, i've only done minor work, but he's gone all out...... the car is $19,000 stock and i'll take a brand new mustang GT as an opposition, $24,500 stock. Now let's see, with the difference in price if spent that on upgrades the tib will murder the mustang. Oh and on a 1.1 mile track, a stock tib runs only 1.5 secs slower than a $56,000 porsche boxster, and let's not go to the new Z06 so we don't embarace any die hard chevy people ( and this was done by Autoweek, im not bullshiting). And that's stock, my friends tib however is not so stock. He's spent $8500 on his car ($1,000 on accesories). So you're up to a total of $27,500 car. But..... he dropped the wieght to 2670 lbs. and the horsepower is now to 415, tourque is now 390, oh but wait i forgot, if you'd like to race him on the freeway there's a nice little double shot from NOS sittin in the trunk that will leave you looking for your balls when it knocks the horespower up to 615 hp........ so i would like anybody to find me a car that's $27,500 that will beat that. You won't. You won't find a $40,000 car that'll beat that.
So in conclusion....... TIBURON'S RULE

Finally!! There's another Tib owner surfing this TIBURON board. It's nice to know that some1 that actually knows what i'm talkin' about is here to vouch.
What all has your friend done as far as weight reduction?? I taken out the spare and jack(of course), complete back seat and seat belt mechanisms, trunk lining and side panelling, carpeting......pretty much everything i guess. The whole ass-end is bare from the front seats back on the inside. I have no idea how much weight i've stripped out though.
Funny how people get pissed so easily knowing their $20,000+ sports car can fall to a Hyundai. Even funnier when u pull up next to them and see their face as you prove it to them

I think the Supra's V6 is a lil bit bigger than a 2.0L I4 Beta 4cyl. which is what the 10 sec tib was running with. Add the other, and you've only got 4.0L. What do the mustang GT's have?? Or the Corvettes?? So, in essence, with only 4.0L it's running 10's.....still faster than a 5.0, 4.6, 5.7.....well just about all the V8's.....and probably for about the same price. Just out of curiosity, because i honestly don't know, How much HP does a supra need to put it in the 10sec bracket?
I was just stating something you can do to a Tib. How long has Supra been around?? Since the 80's, so of course, there's gonna be a much larger market as far as aftermarket mods in production, and alot more time for people to study the engines find out which mods work better than others trial and error etc. etc. The Tib has only been around for a lil while, and is still pretty much "new" to the aftermarket. Espeacially the 2003. Give the Tib a few more years, let people learn how to properly tune mod etc. Korean engineering, and then we can go from there. The supra (and all these other companies besides toyota) and other "sports cars/compacts" have been out for a minimum of 10 yrs......thats a large head start for tuning and trial & error. For how long the Tib's been out, I think people are doing damn good at workin with what they have.

Well, lets see. IF, big if, there were still some LS1s Camaros out there... You could have bought a hardtop, no optioned Z28 for $20-$21k- the rate these cars were selling the dealers were practically giving them away, preferably an auto for consistency. Thats already 300+ to the ground (340-360flywheel) Do a little weight reduction, Buy H/C, headers, midpipe and exhaust, dont forget Torque Converter and gears... all this for $28,000 and youre speaking of a serious street/track monster that can run mid to high tens, no juice, no turbo/supercharge, all balls.
Now for the Mustang. Buy an 03. You can get one out the door for $20k-$21 also with the cash-back deal, mines a fully optioned GT and got it for $23k with no special offers. Bring the race weight to 3200lbs or lower. Invest in a Turbo, and buy all the little bolt ons and minor things you can think of. Taking in mind that youd do the install yourself... youll have a 400+rwhp/500+rwtq Mustang for yet again... $28000. So i still see your friend losing... but then again im speaking "What-Ifs" :dunno:
Also, 1.5 secs is a long time... dont try to play it off like its nothing in a race. Youd be surprise how much a 3 tenths lead could fk you up at the track/strip.

alright, this is what i know he has, i think he may have done some work since this...... throttle body, cold air intake, k&n filter, custom headers and exhaust system, upgraded pistons, turbo charger, computer chip, ignition system, upgraded camshaft, intercooler, and upgraded manifolds. I think soon he's gonna change it to a twin turbo which I think ITS turbo is coming out with. The nitrous is a 200hp shot from a NOS big shot two stage. Along with all this the body has been extensivly lightened, and like i said, most of the stuff is custom because of lack of real quality aftermarket parts for the new tibs. He has connections in some of the companies that make certain parts and he gets stuff custom fabricated. And the last I knew he had it just over 400hp, but that was also before some more little tweaks he did with the timing and all that so it might be higher but only maybe 5-10 more, not much at all. But that's that, and im sure if you live in the area he'd be more than happy to show you the car and then the rear end as he hauls ass away from you if you'd like.

But that's that, and im sure if you live in the area he'd be more than happy to show you the car and then the rear end as he hauls ass away from you if you'd like.
headers...? Hmm.. what does he run?

The Tiburon is just another ricer crap car. Just like the Civic. Tib owners, don't you think its time to get a real car? instead of being the laughing stock of the sport driving community? Using a front drive car for drag racing...stupid.

okay, first off you drive a 1990 ford taurus..... you have no room to talk, but secondly when you can't go and buy a $58,000 corvette or a $30,000 mustang you have to go to the sport compact scene for a fast car, and the new tiburon is the new kid on the block that is predicted and is already killing the compitition.

you've got to be kidding me, a V6 in a camaro is rediculous, it's a chick car... real men get the V8. Then you wouldn't have to bitch about track times, with a few mods you'd hit 11.0 sec and below quarters.

that maybe, but then why are the new tibs kicking most of the cars in it's class's ass... it's not always the engine, it also has to do with how everything is put together, in the case of a camaro that car was put together to hold the V8, then they put in a V6 to make it cheaper, the tib on the other hand is an upgrade to a V6, hence it's tuned for a V6
PLUS..... i've already done all the projecting and for a couple thousand i'll be runnin up around 400hp and then a nitrous shot that will add anywhere between 100 and 200hp depending on how i set it up. and with that i'll be competing with the big boys..... base corvette, camaro SS, and so on, and competing damn well. not to metion that i would murder anyone in my class.
even slightly modified tibs haul major ass, do your homework, and even with no mods on it right now i'll kick you and your mx6's ass.
The new engines for the tib are being looked at as the next skyline engine in terms of the power that's able to be unlocked. So my guess at 400hp may be an undershot by a lot.

But seriously; I think Hyundais are going to be really good one day; they seemed really determined.
Ford is cool too! More mechanical problems than imports, but maybe b/c they make so much power. lol

my mx6 is j-spec v6 engineered in 1993 that produces 200bhp...klze v6. Now ur car is 2003 and produces 170bhp. Wow 10 years behind. And you try to compare this to a porche.
Please, tib is not a bad car. But Like I say, you guys need time to even try to compare the STOCK cars to porche, BMW...
Sure, it;s cheap and you can mod it, but as stock it is just really a crappy car and that's what I am trying to say if anyone is listening...:sly:

when did i say i was comparing my car to a porsche, let alone a stock tib.... that i know i would get my ass kicked, i said my class, which last time i checked consisted of little p.o.s. civics and suck crap, it didn't include any porsche's unless you wanna go into the 924, 944, and 914.... but those cars to tell the truth aren't incredibly fast ... my brother has a 944 and has had a 914 but we haven't raced so i don't know what would happen with a lower end porsche, but the new ones are too fast even when i've got it tuned.

OMFG ya try. This is the funniest crap I heard in my life. Don't even think you can get there with that crappy engineering. RB series went through so much tme and tuning to get it was then now it is going to be VQ series after a BIG change that nissan took alot of pride in.
Keep on dreaming, cause you'd think all the japanese cars have tried to make cars like skyline and try to compete. I dun see any since day 1 the skyline ALSI model has been produced at 1957.

Look
Hyundai as of now does not have much to offer as a STOCK car. Civics are originally meant to be an economical cars. If you think "HYUNDAI" is great, not just tib, go compare like S2000 and ur tib stock. I dun care about mod cause anyone can do it.
That's why its cheap. It's all steel chasis, crap interior, crap engine. But then you can mod it. That's the benefit of tib. As a company, It really got no engineering skills compare to the other car companies. Until then, have fun trying to convince that Hyundai is a good company as a whole

simply puit
Hyndai has no match to honda as a company
or any other car companies. Civics are more well engineered compare that of elantra. No such thing as cheap AND better. Hyundai cars are cheap for reason. Civic is NOT crap.
I'm trying to tell you that Hyundai has no technology or innovation of, lets say, Honda since all you tib drivers wants to flame Honda. Just read my previous point when I reply to bad-tuscani.
As you saying civic is crap, it is not. Ricers are crap. As for everyday transportation, I'd take civic any day over cheap elantra.
I keep on comparing cause you tib drivers like to compare. like boxster, BMW...That's what I find funny and I am trying to tell you that you are out of your place trying to compare Hyundai cars in general to european cars.
Basically: Tib owners like you are too full of yourself, your car, and your car company.
So My point:IMHO, Hyundai sucks, has no unique technology or innovative ideas so stop flaming such accomplished compay as Porche, BMW, Honda, Nissan.....Until Hyundai accomplishes something great like those companies.
There's one thing though. Hyundai does have good place in WRC. I do give some props to the WRC cars. They keep it up and they might be able to come up with something in the future. That I'd admit. They do great.
And ya don't deal with me cause unlike that of bad-tuscani, you're really immature. And I don't wanna deal with your kind. I had too many to deal with already.
