I have 06 Impala LTZ with the 3.9L and I am having heating issues. It is warm but not hot like it used to be. I drove it home today (about 20 minutes) and the hose from the thermostat to the radiator was cold to the touch. It this normal or is my thermostat stuck closed?

First thing, check the coolant level when engine is cold......

Second, what is your gage reading in the dash? Is it 190-200 at normal operating temp?

Third, feel your heater core hoses...are BOTH hot?

Is CE light on? Is code P0128 set?

Coolant level is good, gauge is normal operating temp, both heater core hoses are hot and I have no CE light on.

Cold to the touch normally means stuck open or partially open.

But Kat, he says temp on gage is normal and both heater core hoses are hot....sounds like a temp door/actuator problem....

probably a blend door is stuck open, with the fan on low when you switch from outside to inside air can you hear a faint motor noise as the actuator opens or closes the blend door? when you checked the coolant level did you remove the radiator cap or look in the overflow bottle...remember the engine has to cool down before taking the radiator cap off.
