light problem

My daughter has a 2000 Chev Impala and the park reverse and drive indicator light is staying on after the car is shut off and she has exited the vehicle . Wondering if anyone has come across this problem and what the fix might be

Are you talking about the PRNDL in the center console or in the dash?
