I put in the medium grade at the gas station. It's generally 89 or 91 octane.

87 .... your car is optimised to run on it anyways, putting higher octane in a stock engine is a waste of money and it will actually make your car run worse instead of better.

I put the cheapest crap that burns in my tank, and it works just fine.

87 for stock engines and gradma grocery getters. Use higher octane gas for more performance WITH ADVANCED TIMING
sure 87 octane will work great for your stock engine, but when you want performance, you're going to have to jump up to higher octane.
for those of you who dont know, Octane is a fuel's ability to resist preignition, or detonation (knocking and pinging). When you have advanced ignition timing and/or higher compression pistons, higher octane fuel is a must. The same goes for turbo applications as well.

just to clairify ... bolt ons like I/H/E do not warrnt a higher octane gas. Most tuners still consider stock engines modded with only bolt ons to be almost stock.
