ok please show me a were you got your info about the lsd in the g35 being crappier......
btw there are no vicious settings on an lsd vs conventional ones.....all lsd's are suposed to do the same thing(except for drag settings) .....so it can be only be a good lsd vs a crappy one.....
second the cars were dyno'ed by SCC and they found to have the same HP and the G35 has only 7 foot pund of torque less....
and curb weight is 3225 for the track model....and 3435 for the MT modell.....
and weight distribution is 53/47 for the 350Z and 53/47 for the g35
all this info has been taken from the oficial sites.....except the dyno info which can be verified in SCC.....
again the info is for the coupe not sedan....
so before you start using the loser icon on me do your homework and stop pulling stuff out of your bumhole......
you want respect ......post the exact info...

First...No one said anything about "Viscious settings"..I said a "viscious LSD"....Which is the same type of LSD that is found in NX2000's and what not.......And yes..The 350Z has a "vicious LSD"...As compared to the G35's "Conventional"....So one obviously has a better LSD, you guess which one it is?.

Shinez, are you sure you don't mean "viscous"? Because, if so, then you are talking about a whole different beast of a differential as opposed to seeming like someone who is pulling stats out of thin air.
And, according to independent dyno tests by Steve Millen (a guy I believe to know a bit about Nissans) that I was on site for (local dealer promotion for members of the local automotive press; I owe my grandpa for getting me into that one) there is no significant power difference between a G35 coupe and a 350Z because the G35's exhaust routing (which lends it a sweeter howl than a 350Z's somewhat tinny rasp) is actually a less-restrictive system.
Longer car=less bends in the exhaust=less restriction=more power.
I believe it was 226-222 in the Z's favor (at the rear wheels).

thank you pointing that out to him.....the power outputs are very close.....and i was thinking the same thing what is a viscious lsd...does he mean that as an adjective or is he talking about a viscous coupling lsd???

as far as the curb weight of the nissan 350Z goes..I thought we were comparing the most capable of the models...and since the most capable of the Z models is the model that includes the viscious LSD....the step up from the base model will suffice....However the G35's most capable model...could either be the 5 Speed auto or the 6 Speed manual..I've yet to read 0-60 and 1/4 times on the Auto and 6 speed versions...it could be like the Supra RZ..and have the automatic version be faster than the Getrag 6 speed version stock for stock simply due to the sheer weight of the transmission..but in either case..The 350Z weights less...

ok i was comparing the most capable of models....the track vs the 6MT.....basically same engine and same gearbox....both with stability control and brembo's and lsd...
and again as me and octagon asked you earlier WTF is a "viscious" lsd??? do you mean viscous...?
and of couse the 350z is llighter.....did i ever denied that no.....i even freakin pasted info from the oficial sites showing that...even though you said that they don't list it...

dude i just checked and the 350 Z has a vicous LSD so that it was what you meant.....and you say this is better than the "convetional" lsd found in the g35.....
dude you need to learn more about cars.....there is no such thing as a convetional lsd.....there are many types....using gears as the quaife, or clutch plates, electronics, viscous coupling......they each have their strengts and weakneses.......we can start a tread comparing them in the tech forum.....but don't give us that bulshit....
even if the 350z lsd is better....which i doubt(i bet is the same sinte the tranny is identical)....the proper way to put is is: the 350z has a superior lsd not it has "the viscous"which you spelled wrong like ten times.....
what is "the viscous" sound like is some special term for the ultimate lsd....newsflash its just a FREAKING type of LSD.....

it's rather humorous how this guy's sig has american and the word
"quality" next to it.. funny.. all the consumer reports and JD Powers studies over the past decade rate honda and toyota with an average of 10-11 problems per 100 vehicles while american manufacturers had an average of 23 problems per 100 vehicles... AMerican cars may be reputed for their inefficient huge engines power...but one thing they aren't respected for is precision engineering and solid build quality... that accolade goes to the japanese my sorely mistaken amigo

That might be true... but how many of those Toys and Hondas can actually beat an American car (V8/Rwd) through a 1/4 mi now-a-days? That is all that matters here in the Good 'Ole Us of A. Please not that my last car surely as hell didnt give me any problems, along with my dads truck, which has 190k on the odometer.
Also, guys WTF is a Viscious or Vicious LSD?

Us?..Now you're speaking for the entire forum?...
ok first of all No one said that there is a Type of LSD called a conventional LSD..that is why I put it in QUOTES..That is what it was LABELED AS..if you're too daft to realize that then stop reading now.
yeah..I misspelled it..I added an "i" HOLY CRAP that means it's completly undetermined..No one could figure out I meant Viscous when i said viscious...Who coulda guessed?...Second..I'm WELL aware that there are different types of LSD's such as torsen clutch viscous and ratchet...that's obvious...

What i'm wondering is how come every site that displays their drivetrain composition always mentions viscous in the 350z...but never mentions it in the G35's?
what is "the viscous" sound like is some special term for the ultimate lsd....newsflash its just a FREAKING type of LSD.....
Lol..When did I say it was the "ultimate LSD"...but chances are a fluid driven LSD, which is one of the more efficient LSD's asside from a clutch.....performs better than "Convensional"...Which in nissan's history....the cars without viscous LSD's but were LSD equipped..Had Torsen lsd's...which arn't as good..

the point as you said is that you asumed that the g35 has a crappier lsd.....you might be right but you also might be wrong....so when you don't know something for sure just say so so other people won't take this information as certain fact...
why i corrected you on the spelling was because we asked you if you mean viscous but you never answered and you left us confused....otherwise i'm not one to make spelling corrections (especially when i make plenty myself)
why i react like this is because i really don't like it when people post things that are not 100% certain and don't metion that they are not sure....this leads to the spread of bad info....

The only Skyline worth talking about is the GT-R. And not really that. Yeah you can get 500hp with the ease of a couple mods, I know this my buddies got one. But the fact is GT-R is the best of Skylines. The GTS-T and the GTS-4 are slow. I beat them like nothing... And I AM N/A!!!

Stop in over at AF's Skyline forum. They have a whole thread or two dedicated to what you're asking.

Explain how you gained your jump from low 15s to mid 13s by doing nothing?
And in your thread where you posted your races with the other cars.. not once did you mention that it was wet/damp/moist/humid out... So the remark about the dry pavement is questionable.
And you then followed up by saying:
Like I said though... My car was running bad... I should be able to run Mid 14's
How is it you go from your 'projected' mid 14s to a full second faster to mid 13s?
What was the actuall times and trap speeds you achieved?
I'm one confused individual.:eek7:

Ok, I am sorry, I am used to talking to guys from here about cars, but I was told my car runs mid 14's by the guy I bought it from. And when I meant my car was running like crap not only engine wise but see I live up north Japan, where it rains just about everyday. So I was phrasing off of the rain. Like I said before. I am used to talking to fellow racing buddies here... SORRY for the confusing. I ll get the times and trap speeds up soon... Have to recall them off the RSM

My point is, you could take the new japan ver Skyline, sneak it over here to USA, take a 10 yr old 93 Supra, have $5000 in mods each to give both, and the Supra would probably mop the Skylines butt all over the place in a 1/4 mile and maybe even handling...
heck no dude. The Skyline would tear it up. it has AWD, so it's easy to cut a good 60' time. the Supra will kill it top speed wise, but the Skyline owns the supra at the strip (Not stock though). I heard that an aftermarket chip is suppose to be good for another 80-100 hp. they really governed those suckers. there is a vid somewhere on the net of one pulling 1168 awhp on a dyno. That's pretty impressive.

how so? a skyline runs high 12's stock. that faster then a supra's 13 flat stock. it will be a very close race though.

There is NO clear cut winner between the GTR and the TT Supra.
Armchair racing:tongue:
I love my GTR, but I wish I had a Supra as well.
GTRs were not built for the 1/4 mile, remember there is a point where the AWD does not work, unless you preload.

Actually it depends on the mag. I've seen Car and Driver w/ a high 13 sec. time for the R34 Skyline (Heck i've even seen a low 15 sec. 1/4 mile for the R32 Skyline). I heard that a japanese publication coerced a 12 sec. pass out of the skyline, which is what i suppose your time comes from  I don't really think that the supra has that much of an advantage stock, it's pretty even (Slight edge to poopra). After modding though, that Supra gets waxed. I've heard of some ridiculous time slips coming from the Skyline. Personally i think the Supra is MASSIVELY overrated. Sure they dyno high, but torque is an issue. I think the new 2003 Cobra will have it's daddy in a few years (they need more time for the aftermarket to coerce power out of it). i'm just waiting for someone to plant a T78 turbo on a 2003, with the neccessary mods of course

Maybe in the USA. it's not a 1/4 mile car, but there is one here in Japan that was tuned by G-Force and its quick. We're talking low 10's probably.

14.1?? Please admit immediately that your good mate needs to become a good driver, b/c right now he is horrible:biggrin: I was smoked by two seperate completely stock Supra TTs in my 96 Z28, and I pulled a 13.9 in that. I've seen stock and near stock Supra's run mid and an occasional low 13 all day long. Consquently, I've also seen more than one in the 14s as well.

It depends on the cars, the track, the tires, the driver, the temp, the power band, the humidity, the elevation, etc.
There is no clear cut winner, both cars are very impressive. Also you are just talking the start, and the 1/4 mile(not.25:)) I am talking all around performance.
I stand by my statement, there is NO clear cut winner.

I must say that the Skyline is one impressive car. It has a rock solid motor, in fact one of the best six cylinder motors ever produced. I am sad to say that I don't feel it is worth the price that we have to pay in the United States. There are plenty of cars for the same price that can be had that will walk all over the Skyline. I am not talking modded, I am talkinf stock for stock. I can mod a plethra of cars and engines to desimate the Skyline so it is pointless. There is and always will be a faster car and a better engine.
What I am sick and tired of is all the hype about the Skyline being the God of all cars which is hardly true. In fact, speaking of Best Motoring, I have a video of two AE86s beating the Skyline GT-R34 on a track.

Thank you Octagon for posting a pic of the car that I sold Tito.
I found the car at a guy's house here in Okinawa and restored it myself. (the car was headed for the crusher)
It was pretty much a rolling chassis without any drive train. The interior was pieced together from other cars and from what I could scrounge from freinds of mine. The engine came out of a 280Z and the tranny too. The diff came out of a 810 (bluebird). It took me 2 years to get it to look like this. It still needs more work but I think Tito can handle that. He and his wife loves the car and have plans to take it back to the states.
As for my car, I am having body panels made and it will be some time before I will post pics here. This winter I am planning a full restore.
As for everybody else, I enjoy my car as much as the next guy. I appreciate it when someone cares for thier car. It show they care for thier investment.(instead of the person who neglects a otherwise fine machine)
So don't knock me for enjoying my Hakosuka!
(I love my wife and children more than my car)

Nope he is a very good driver. His car was an auto and no one mentioned driveline configuration. With a manual he would be in the mid 13's yes. Either way mod for mod to a certain point a 4wd car will be quicker in a drag race. The point being once you go beyond a street car IE not a dedicated drag car and modified as such on street tyres not Mickey T's, slicks, bla bla. Once you go to that the 2wd car will always be quicker due to less drive line losses.
The only Skylines I've ever seen NOT run low 13's or quicker in any form are non-GTR's. There are quite a few different versions of the Skyline so you need to be a bit more precise in your statements people.
As mentioned before it is hard to understand and pass real judgement unless you have actually driven a car you are commenting on. I've never driven Porsche, so I only pass average comments on them.
